Lisle Baseball Division / League Information

Shetland: Ages 4 to 6 (co-ed)

The Shetland League is intended for children 4 to 6 years old that want to have fun through exposure to the game of baseball / softball. Children will learn both individual skills of how to throw, catch, hit the ball and run the bases, as well as ways to work together as a team in a non-competitive, fun and inviting fashion. For this age player, the base path is set at 50 ft. with every player getting multiple opportunities to hit, run the bases and begin to learn basics of the infield and outfield positions. Each child on the team bats every inning. Shetland is a combination Coach Pitch and T-Ball division. Each child receives six pitches from his coach per at-bat. If the ball is not hit after those six pitches, it is then placed on a tee to be hit. The Shetland Division is intended to be an instructional league, to allow every player the chance to play and learn basic rules. No scores or season standings are kept. Players can expect to play approximately 14-15 games and all games are completed prior to the 4th of July, as to avoid conflict with family summer vacations. Uniforms are provided: MLB minor league replica jersey and cap. All Shetland games are played in Lisle.
