Lovejoy Varsity Defeats John Paul II in Low-Scoring Affair 3 -2

Both teams were strong on the mound Saturday, but LL 2017 defeated John Paul II 3-2. Lovejoy pitchers allowed just six hits to John Paul II.

 

Lovejoy took an early lead in the first inning. Lovejoy scored one run on a stolen base in the first inning. In the bottom of the second inning, John Paul II tied things up at one. Lovejoy took the lead for good with one run in the third inning.

 

Hank Harrison earned the win for Lovejoy. He threw three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, one hit, and striking out three. Matt Piccirillo recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Lovejoy. #6 took the loss for John Paul II. He tossed five and a third innings, giving up three runs, one hit, and striking out five.

 

Jacob Terwilliger started the game for Lovejoy. He tossed one and one-third innings, surrendering one run, two hits, striking out two, and walking one. Harrison, Michael Difiore, and Matt Almy all had one hit to lead Lovejoy. Lovejoy was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Almy had the most chances in the field with seven.

 

#17 led John Paul II with two hits in four at bats.
