ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Veteran Maryland youth baseball coach and administrator Ray Albaugh has joined the leadership of the Ruth’s Baseball Ideals (RBI) Baseball Club of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) as director of baseball operations, Maryland AAU Baseball and RBI announced.
“I’m excited that Ray is joining the leadership as director of baseball operations,” said John Pineau, director of AAU Baseball’s Potomac Valley and Maryland districts and the RBI baseball club. “We just added another great piece to the puzzle. Ray will focus on getting things organized as part of the big plan.”
Over the past six years, Albaugh handled various aspects of game planning, scouting, recruiting, purchasing, and scheduling duties, field maintenance, and travel and facilities arrangements for Maryland RBI Select-Travel, an advanced baseball skills and development team affiliated with the RBI club.
“I’m excited to bring my contributions to the RBI club and its AAU relationship,” Albaugh said. “I enjoy the organizational management side of baseball and this is a good fit. AAU is a great operation and RBI has had a significant impact on sustainment of volunteer run youth baseball in the region.
Albaugh replaces Pineau, who in addition to his other extensive RBI club responsibilities was also the director of baseball operations. Pineau is relaxing his control of day-to-day aspects of baseball operations.
“Ray has done amazing work for this organization, and this move keeps RBI in position to continue the important progress that we have made expanding AAU Baseball in the region,” Pineau said. “He is highly regarded and trusted in the community, and many people are looking forward to his capable hands helping improve our baseball operations management and building relationships essential across the region.”
Except for a brief hiatus as manager of a 16U fall pick up team, the RBI Rebels (2011), Albaugh has been a vital cog in Maryland RBI’s 215 wins over 6 years in select-travel baseball since 2010.
Pineau added, “Ray’s an individual who has a diversity of experience at many levels and brings a lot of administrative experience and knowledge of running a baseball program with him.”
In his role as RBI Director of Baseball Operations, Albaugh is responsible for handling a variety of tasks for the day-to-day functioning of the program, including fields, scheduling, uniforms and equipment procurement, and assisting in running leagues, tournaments and camps.
Albaugh will continue his role with Maryland RBI. He can be reached at phone: 443-624-5437, email: rayalbaugh@hotmail.com.
