    Stars roll past Oceanside
We were blessed with a beautiful October day for a soccer match especially after the downpours that took place all day the day before. The Stars traveled to Oceanside to battle against the 2-0-1 Express with the Stars expecting to face a physical Oceanside team. Despite all the reports of a tough matchup, the Stars, who were without their trainer, got off to a quick start and kept the pressure, and scoring, throughout the entire first half. When the smoke had cleared at halftime, the Stars had a 5-0 lead and looked sharper, quicker and hungrier than the Oceanside Express. The Stars scoring explosion started when Taylor dropped a ball deep into the Express zone that was chased down by Amanda who quick sent a cross, just past the keeper to a rushing Erica, who tapped it in for the first goal. A few minutes later Madison sent a pass to Amanda, who drove by an Oceanside defender to the left and sent a beautiful cross to Samantha right in the middle of the box. Samantha was able to strike the ball well and into the net to give the Stars a 2-0 lead. The Stars were marking well and playing tight pressing defense which helped create the next scoring opportunity. Taylor was able to intercept a poor pass in the back by Oceanside to score unassisted. After assisting on the first 2 goals, Amanda was able to knock one in herself off of an assist from Erica giving Amanda her third point and giving the Stars a 4-0 lead. Nicole came in on a substitution and capped off the scoring barrage by providing the prettiest goal of the season so far. Amanda provided her third assist of the half sending a perfect pass to a darting Nicole, who blew by the last defender setting up a one on one with the keeper. The keeper ran out to make a stop but Nicole made a sharp cut to the left leaving the keeper grabbing at air. Nicole was then able to strike the ball with her left foot, placing the ball into the empty net to give the Stars a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Stars shuffled the lineup, giving some players a chance to play in other positions all the while playing tough defense and maintaining possession most of the way through. It was a great team effort as everyone contributed. The defensive line of Nicolette, Courtney, Sydney and Shannon in the first half and Danielle and Kristen in the second half made it easy for Kara to record the shutout. Shelby and Madison did a great job supporting the defensive line while feeding the ball to the front line. With a score of 5-0 obviously the front line did a wonderful job finishing. All around great effort by the entire team as the Stars improved to 5-0-0 in league play.
