Mission and History of Meanstreets Sports Inc.
Purpose:
Our purpose as a cheerleading program is to create an atmosphere where we train girls for competition mentally and physically. As a staff it is our duty to work together to produce the best cheerleaders possible. We promote teamwork and teach good sportsmanship especially on how to commend others on a job well done.
Mission:
To "give something back to the community" using sports as a vehicle. Many of the youngsters who benefit the most from these programs are elementary as well as high school students/athletes who have been saddled with the misfortune of residing in less desirable areas in the city of Chicago and it's suburbs.
History:
MeanStreets Basketball:
MeanStreets Basketball program started with a 14u team in 2001 and developed exponentially over a two year period with an 11th place finish in 2002 into the 2003 16 and under National AAU Champions. This year MeanStreets Basketball has a total of three teams 14u, 15u, and 17u. The program also hosts basketball camps and tournaments.
Our teams are extremely talented and as a result travel extensively throughout the summer. Travel includes local and national events hosted by Amateur Athletic Union, adidas, Nike and others. Meanstreets Basketball provides uniforms, food, lodging, transportation, and entry fees for all coaches and team members.
MeanStreets Cheerleading:
MeanStreets Cheerleading squad are the 2004 Americup UPA National Champions and 2005 Elite Spirit Group National Champions. Members of our elite competitive cheer squad train year round.
Education
Education is extremely important to Meanstreets. Tutoring and homework assistance is provided to members at the request of the kid and or parent. Our club “Le Clique” is our elite honor roll program which promotes good grades and challenges girls to be their best in school.
Miscellaneous
Other MeanStreets sponsored activities include free football camps, where participants receive guidance, lunch, t-shirts and souvenirs. This year our organization will offer scholarships to cover the cost to participate on youth football teams.
We enjoy and are proud of the work we do.
