Mighty Marlins Bring Home Fourth 2009 Tournament Title
Your Big Fish finished their successful 2009 regular season Saturday by winning their fourth tournament title of the year at the Volleycat Open in Grand Blanc.
The snarlin' Marlins only lost two games in Grand Blanc to bring home one more gem for the Mercy trophy case ..... and just in time to get home and go trick-or-treating.
Here are the match results:
Mercy beat Swartz Creek 25-12, 25-12.
They hit a mid-day lull, splitting with Grand Blanc 25-17, 22-25 and with Sterling Heights 25-20, 24-26,
before defeating Lake Orion 25-14, 25-13 to finish first in Pool A.
The Marlins then dropped Lapeer East 25-22, 25-18 in the championship semi-finals, and beat host Grand Blanc 25-17, 25-20, to bag the Volleycat Open title. Way to go Marlins !
The Big Fish have now finished their regular season schedule at 42-9-3.
Mercy now turns their attention to attempting to win their 6th State District title in a row (and 19th in the last 22 years) this upcoming week at Farmington High School. The Marlins face West Bloomfield at 7:00 PM Monday, November 2nd.
If they can defeat the Lakers Monday, your Big Fish advance to the District Semi-Final Wednesday, November 4th at 7:00 against the Harrison Hawks, with a possible date in the District Final Friday the 6th, again at 7:00, on the line.
