Michigan Jets' Update as of 11/25/2015

As of 6:24 P.M. on November 25, 2015, due to time constraints and conflicting commitments, the Michigan Jets will not be participating in travel baseball in 2016. If there is any change in the future, it will be noted on this website. All players that have paid money will be receiving full refunds. If you still would like to find a team to play on for the summer of 2016, please call Dale Ochodnicky at 734-578-6770 and he will get you set up. The Michigan Jets are an 18 & under travel baseball team. In 2011,
2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 they were known as the Michigan Jets. In 2009,
they were known as the Michigan Mustangs. In 2008, they
were known as the Michigan Moose. They did not have a team in 2010.

They are looking for players for the 2016 summer season.

In order to play, players either must have been born May 1, 1997, or
later, or they must qualify under USSSA By-Law 3.01.B. If you do not
know what USSSA By-Law 3.01.B. is, feel free to ask.
 
This team has three non-parent coaches.

We have apartments lined up for players on the team that need them, allowing us to bring in players from anywhere. Players are able to
stay at these apartments for the entire season if needed. 
The Jets are planning on playing in nine tournaments in 2016. Most will be in Michigan.

  • Through their first 29 games, the Jets did not allow more than four runs in 28 of those 29 games.
  • The Jets are now the only team to win both the Triple Crown Sports' Great Lakes Spectacular and the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash twice.
  • The Jets won seven of the eleven tournaments that they entered. They also placed third in two other tournaments.
  • The Jets won the USSSA State Tournament, the USSSA Diamond Classic, the USSSA Midwest Elite, the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Spectacular, the Joel Zito Invitational, the Arsenal Invitational, and the Genesee Fieldhouse Fire & Ice Invitational.

  • The Jets beat the Detroit Eagles three times (including mercying them twice). The Eagles have won multiple RBI Regionals and placed well in the RBI World Series in the past.
  • The Jets beat the Great Lake Canadians by seven more runs than the nationally-renowned Midland Redskins did.
  • The Jets scored eleven more runs against the Great Lake Canadians than the nationally-renowned Midland Redskins did.

• The Jets came in third place at the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge.

• The Jets came in third place out of 20 teams at the USSSA Great Lakes Elite.
• The Jets tied for 9th place out of 64 teams at the Pastime Tournaments Great Lakes Tournament of Champions.
• The Jets came in first place out of 42 teams at the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash.
• The Jets won their pool at the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash.

• The Jets won their pool at the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series. Their pool included the Cincy Flames, Indiana Mustangs, St. Louis Sting, Northern Illinois Reds, and the Michigan Red Sox.
• The Jets scored the most runs in pool play out of all 54 teams at the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series.
• The Jets were the #3 seed out of 54 teams coming out of pool play at the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series.
• The Jets were one of only three teams out of 54 to lose less than two games at the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series. The only other two teams were the two that played in the championship game.
• Out of the fifteen teams from Michigan that played in the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series, the Jets were one of the last three standing in the tournament.
• The Jets came in ninth place out of 54 teams at the Cincy Flames Dinger Wood Bat World Series, finishing ahead of both Cincy Flames teams, the St. Louis Sting, the Indiana Prospects, the Dayton Classics, Academy Stars, GRB Rays, Huntington Hounds, etc.
• The Jets won two tournaments.
• The Jets came in second place in one tournament.
• The Jets came in third place in two tournaments.
• The Jets had a nine game winning streak.
• The Jets were the #2 ranked team out of 46 in the 18U AAA classification in the state of Michigan in 2013 in Points according to USSSA.com.

• The Jets were full of Division I talent! Players on the 2013 team either have played or will play at Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Western Michigan, East Tennessee State, Oakland, Maine, Michigan, Massachusetts – Lowell, Canisius, etc.
• The Jets got to play 21 games on college fields! Highlights included playing at Eastern Michigan University, Central Michigan University, Miami University, and Northern Kentucky University.
• The Jets outscored their opponents by 152 runs for the season (an average of 2.92 runs per game).
• The Jets had a winning record in seven of the tournaments that they entered.
• The Jets beat some premier teams from out-of-state, including the St. Louis Sting, Premier Baseball (out of Cleveland, Ohio), Indiana Mustangs, Northern Illinois Reds, etc.
• The Jets were one of only three teams to score a run off of a Louisville commit from the Chicago area this summer.

This is what the Michigan Jets accomplished in 2012.:

• The Jets had a 38-10-1 overall record.

• The Jets defeated perennial state powers such as the Michigan Bulls 17u and 18u teams, Saginaw
Means, South Oakland A's 17u and 18u teams, Lapeer Outlaws, Grand Rapids Diamonds, Grand Rapids
Flames, Bloomfield Sting, Around the Horn Stampede, Detroit Eagles, Blissfield Legion, etc. They
defeated teams from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Ontario. The Jets went 7-0 against teams from Ohio.

• The Jets won the Wolverine Invitational and the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash.

• The Jets went 7-0 at the Wolverine Invitational which included wins over four teams from Ohio.

• The Jets won their pool at the Wolverine Invitational.

• The Jets went 6-1 at the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash.

• The Jets won their pool at the Motor City Pride Collegiate Clash. Their pool included the Lapeer
Outlaws, 18u South Oakland A's, 18u Michiana Scrappers, and 17u Grand Rapids Diamonds.

• The Jets defeated the Lapeer Outlaws, who won the Motor City Pride Invitational and were 25-6-1 on
the season.

• The Jets mercied the 18u Michiana Scrappers, a team with multiple Division I signees.

• The Jets went 2-1-1 and came in second place at the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge. The Jets defeated
the 18u Michigan Bulls in this tournament and the Detroit Eagles (who got to the RBI World Series in
2012). The only team that the Jets lost to in this tournament won the USSSA Great Lakes Elite, the
Ultimate Strike Zone, the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge, and came in second place at the Black Swamp.

• The Jets came in second place at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol.

• The Jets went 6-1 at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol.

• The Jets were the first team to defeat Saginaw Means all summer and gave Means their only loss of the
tournament. Means only lost three games all summer.

• The Jets mercied four of the six teams that they beat in this tournament.

• The Jets mercied the Bloomfield Sting who came in third place out of 36 teams in the Cincy Flames
Phoenix Wood Bat National Championship. The Sting also won the 16U USSSA State Tournament in
2010 when they were a 16U team.

• The Jets came in sixth place out of 23 teams at the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Spectacular (which
they won in 2011).
• The Jets won their pool at the USSSA Diamond Classic.
• The Jets went 3-1 at the USSSA Diamond Classic.
• The Jets came in fourth place at the USSSA Diamond Classic.
• The Jets came in second place at the South Oakland A's Invitational.
• The Jets went 4-1 at the South Oakland A's Invitational.
• The Jets won their pool at the South Oakland A's Invitational.
• The Jets placed second in three tournaments.
• The Jets came in fourth place in one tournament.
• The Jets defeated the 18u South Oakland A's twice. The 18u South Oakland A's won the CABA State
Tournament and the South Oakland A's Invitational.
• At one point the Jets had a ten game winning streak! They also had a separate seven game winning
streak!
• The Jets hit 27 home runs as a team.
• One Jet hit eight home runs!
• One Jet hit three grand slams!
• One Jet hit two grand slams in one game!
• The Jets outscored their opponents by 167 runs for the season.
• The Jets averaged 3.4 more runs per game than their opponents did.
• The 2012 Jets had five players that were named to the All State team in 2011!
• The 2012 Jets had four players that were named to the All State team in 2012!
• All but one of the graduated players on the 2012 Michigan Jets will be playing college baseball.
• The Jets had a winning record in seven of the eight tournaments that they entered.
• #3 team out of 48 teams in USSSA points in the 18 & Under AAA Classification in the state of
Michigan.
• #5 team out of 32 teams in USSSA power rating in the 18 & Under AAA Classification in the state of
Michigan.
• #1 team out of 19 teams in the USSSA coaches' poll in the 18 & Under AAA Classification in the state
of Michigan.
• Won twelve games via the mercy rule.
• The Jets were the only team at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol to defeat the team that ended up
winning the entire tournament.
• The Jets were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play at the University of Michigan, Central
Michigan University, Wayne State University, Hillsdale College, Adrian College, Siena Heights University,
and Washtenaw Community College.

The Michigan Jets had an incredible 2011 summer season. Their accomplishments include (but are not limited to) the following.:
• 32-13-1 overall record
• #2 Power Rating out of 33 teams in the USSSA 18u AAA Classification in Michigan
• 2-1 record at the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge
• 5th place finish at the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge
• 3-2 record at the USSSA Great Lakes Elite with victories over teams from Illinois and Ontario
• Mercied the third place team (the London Badgers) at the USSSA Great Lakes Elite
• 8th place finish out of 20 teams at the USSSA Great Lakes Elite
• 4-1 record at the USSSA State Tournament
• 2nd place finish at the USSSA State Tournament out of 20 teams
• Winning record in six of eight tournaments entered and .500 record in one of the other two
• 5-1 record at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol
• 4th place finish out of 22 teams at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol
• 6-1 record at the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Spectacular
• Won the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Spectacular, coming in 1st place out of 24 teams
• Came in 2nd place at the Madonna Invitational
• Mercied the NFWB Cobras, who won the Madonna Invitational and the Collegiate Clash
• Beat the Oakland Bulldogs, who won the CABA World Series in Youngstown, Ohio and also went 35-7 on the season
• Won thirteen games via the mercy rule
• Several Jets’ players are playing Division I college baseball
• All Jets’ players are playing college baseball except one (who is trying to walk-on at a Division I program)
• Beat the CM Stars twice, who won the Palomino World Series in California
• Mercied the London Badgers, who as of right now are 62-19. They have only been mercied twice all season, and we were one of the two teams to do it.
• Mercied the Michigan Blue Jays, who won the USSSA Battle at the Capitol, came in 3rd place out of 96 teams at the Pastime Tournaments Best of the Midwest in Dayton, Ohio, came in third place at the Pastime Tournaments Mid-Atlantic Tournament of Champions, and came in 2nd place at the 2010 USSSA World Series
• The Jets outscored their opponents by 136 runs for the season
• The Jets outscored their opponents by an average of about 2.95 runs per game for the season
• Defeated teams from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Canada
• Hit two home runs off of a pitcher that was drafted in the 2011 MLB Draft
• Scored an average of 7.39 runs/game
• Allowed an average of 4.44 runs/game
• Twelve different Jets hit home runs; four players hit multiple home runs
• One Jet hit eight home runs!
• One Jet played in over 30 games, had over 100 plate appearances, and did not strike out one time!
• Defeated Milford Legion twice, who have advanced to the Michigan Legion State Tournament two years in a row.
• The Jets won their pool at the USSSA State Tournament
• The Jets won their pool at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol
• The Jets won their pool at the Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Spectacular
• The Jets were the only team at the USSSA Battle at the Capitol to defeat the team that ended up winning the entire tournament.
• The Jets were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play at Eastern Michigan University, Central Michigan University, Northwood University, Wayne State University, and Madonna University.

This coaching staff did not have a team in 2010. This coaching staff was not associated with the 2010 Michigan Mustangs team coached by Tom Poole.

This is the same coaching staff that led the 2009 Michigan Mustangs 18u team to a 26-11 tournament record. The Mustangs had a 25-8 record in tournaments against teams from Michigan. The Mustangs went 18-4 in their last 22 tournament games. The 2009 Michigan Mustangs won one tournament (the West Bloomfield Diamond Classic), came in second place in one tournament (the Madonna Invitational), got to the semifinals in two other tournaments (Home Runs for Heroes and the USSSA Battle at the Capitol), and got to the quarterfinals in one other tournament (the USSSA Great Lakes Challenge AAA).

This coaching staff also put together the 2008 Michigan Moose team.

• The Moose won 28 games.
• The Moose went 4-1 at the Motor City Pride Invitational 
• The Moose won their pool at the Motor City Pride Invitational (but did not advance due to extenuating circumstances) 

• The Moose went 4-1 at the Beast of the East 
• The Moose tied for 1st in their pool at the Beast of the East.

• Were the only team at the Madonna Invitational to hold the eventual champions to four runs (one team let up eight runs and two others let up eleven runs) during pool play.
