Johnny L. was a key element for the Astros all year with his versatility. He can play short, second base, outfield and pitch. His most recent pitching highlights included a complete game NT Summer League win vs. Long Beach, and a four inning shutout stint where he closed the door against Rockville Centre and allowed the Astros to come back from a 4-0 deficit and win 14-4 in the Massapequa Tournament. Along with that, he broke open two Massapequa Tournament games with a bases loaded double and triple for 6 RBI's in key situations. Johnny's play in the Summer and Fall quickly earned the nickname "Johnny on the Spot". He stepped up his game and shared MVP honors with Mike S. throughout the Massapequa Tournament.
John had 17 hits for all of 2008 scoring 14 runs with 15 RBI's and a .266 batting average. This solid hitting with his steady pitching made Johnny a big factor all year for Migs Astros.
