FACT SHEET

Momentum Youth Track Club (MYTC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established as an Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) sanctioned organization in 2010.  Based in Midlothian, Texas, MYTC is a competitive track & field organization dedicated to training and developing boys and girls between the ages of 10 thru 18 years old, residing within the Southwestern AAU Region 12 which is the DFW area.

VISION: Develop and empower young boys and girls through the sport of track & field, while striving for excellence in life endeavors on and off the track. Teach fundamental track & field principles to enhance and develop their individual skills and abilities.  Develop a spirit of competitiveness to foster positive work ethics, discipline, teamwork, and respect for the sport, themselves, and competitors.  Invest in building relationships with the family as a whole.  Allow this sport and organization to be a platform to aid in the inspiration, growth and success of future endeavors in the young lives we reach.  Develop the “total person” through coaching/mentoring all aspects; personal, educational, athletic, health, fitness, and nutrition goals, along with mental, physical and spiritual foundation fostered from Christian precepts and principals of Christ Jesus.  Develop partnerships with local school districts and collegiate level track & field programs.  Remain an integral and impactful part in the lives of the youth and community.

COACHING STRAGETY/PHILOSPHY:  Our top priority and emphasis is individual improvement not their placements in their individual events.  We understand getting faster and stronger is a by-product of the hard-work and dedication applied day after day. Southwestern Region is a very competitive Region, so times are the determining factor at the end of the day, and we train hard to see  the improvement of times and mechanics--the output. The weekly training sessions are designed to challenge athletes in various aspects of running techniques, strength, conditioning, core, and race strategies that will fully prepare them for weekly competitions.  Runners will enter each competition with confidence and an excellent state of readiness to perform to the best of their ability.  Athletes will be coached to reach their potential and stretched to go beyond that.  Athletes will become goal-setters and play an active role in establishing weekly goals to challenge and enhance their performance.

STAFF: MYTC is governed by AAU and MYTC policies and By-Laws which are adhered and enforced by a

5-member Board of Directors/Advisors and various event coaches.  Board members and coaches are volunteers and do not receive any recoupment or monetary compensation for their freewill time or service,  Board members and coaches will model integrity, corrective criticism (positive and negative), maintain healthy coach/athlete relationships, open communication between coaches/athletes/parents, and operate in compliance with AAU and MYTC policies and By-Laws.

We welcome leaders who desire to share their leadership skills, time, experiences, and passion for the youth and this sport.  Leaders are held to an expectation to operate in compliance with MYTC guidelines so our actions and decisions will always be in support of the clubs vision which promotes a healthy organization culture, safety, protection and the best interest of for that for the athletes, parents and as the organization as a whole.  We want leaders to feel the heartbeat of the vision and bring your passion and abilities to this organization to help us grow collectively as a team, and individuals in the sport of track & field and off the track.

TEAM BACKGROUND:  Membership varies each year in members, genders and ages.  We average twenty athletes per year.  Boys usually make up most of that number.  Middle school ages kids is usually our highest enrollment.

Since 2010, Momentum coached medalist in the Shot Put (1st), Discus (2nd), 3000m (5th) and 1500m (8th). and over fifty Olympians in various events (200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, 80m/100m/200m/400m hurdles, 4x400 relay, Shot Put and Discus).  We take honor in being a smaller organization; compared to other clubs. Our desire is to provide each runner respectable attention in their personal development and improvement in the sport.  We value the opportunity to be “hands-on” and “up-close” in the transformation of each athlete.  We will never sacrifice having a large club (without adequate coaches) and lose our integrity and intent in building up each runner through the attention and coaching methods we desire to provide.  Our ratio goal is 1:8.

  TEAM COLORS/LOGO:

 1. Red, purple, black and white.  a) Red: Strength, power, and remission of our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. b) Purple: Royalty, c) Black; War, and d) White: holiness, and righteousness.  Each color was selected with those significant spiritual meanings in mind.

 2. Momentum is defined as the moving force which overcomes resistance. The equation for momentum is; force  x  time = momentum.  Momentum signifies the strength or force we gain from our personal relationship with Christ that gives us the supernatural power to endure beyond our physical abilities.

 3. Logo: The wings represents “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31. The power of the Lord gives a renewed strength or momentum for us to endure so we complete the race which is set before us.

PRACTICES: Frank Seale Middle School in Midlothian is our practice location.  Winter conditioning might be offered (Feb-Mar) which is optional and is offered especially for those athletes which are not actively involved in any sports or they are new to track & field.  Practice is held on Mon, Tue, Thur, and Fri.

COMPETITIONS: MYTC participates in AAU and USATF sanctioned track meets hosted throughout the metroplex on Saturday’s.  We average about 2 meets a month leading up to the qualifying meets (District, Regionals), and ultimately reaching the highest level, the Junior Olympic Games.  All meets are in held in the DFW area except the Junior Olympic Games.
