Buffs Rally To Win Over Tigers

Bessemer, AL - After falling behind early in the 4th quarter to the Marvel City Tigers of Bessemer, AL, the Buffaloes put together a 12 play, 84 yard drive for their second win of the season. Tail back Jamarcus Darden carried the ball four times straight from the Tigers 23 yard line. His final carry resulted in a 4 yard touchdown run. Quarterback John Scott ran around right end for the 2-pt conversion to give the Buffs an 8-2, hard fought victory over the Tigers.

The Buffaloes were led on defense by inside linebacker Malcolm Davis. The 6' 1" 225lb Davis led the Buffs with 12 tackles and also had a sack and a forced fumble. Outside linebacker Mike Washington was second on the team in tackles with 8 and added a sack as well.

The Buffaloes defense stood strong all day and limited the Tigers to 143 yards of total offense and no scores. The Tigers only points was a safety courtesy of a miss handled snap during a Buffaloes punt attempt. The Buffaloes ended two first half scoring opportunities by the Tigers with interceptions. The first by strong safety Randell Pinkston and the second by corner back Jawon Garrison. Linebacker Roberto Hall and defensive end Dexter Tinsley sealed the win with sacks on the Tigers last drive.

The Buffaloes will travel to Gadsden, AL, July 13th to take on the undefeated Alabama Trojans. Kick-off is set for 7 pm.
