Buffs Defeat Georgia Knights

Prattville, AL - Lawton, OK native Adonis McCaskey rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown in route to winning player of the game honors in the Montgomery Buffaloes 41-0 victory Saturday night over the Georgia Knights. McCaskey's 33 yard touchdown run early in the second quarter help seal a hard fought win for the Buffaloes.

The Buffaloes started early with a 68 yard punt return for a touchdown by former Dothan High stand out Keon Young. From there, Deron Barnett took a toss around right end and converted on a 2-pt conversion attempt to make the score 8-0. On the Buffaloes second series, quarterback John Napier found a wide open Travis Garmon in the back of the endzone for a 27 yard touchdown pass. The point after failed and the Buffaloes took an early 14-0 lead mid way through the first quarter. On the Knights second series, Buffaloes defensive end Josh Cooper, who has been nursing a sprain knee, recorded his first sack of the season and forced a fumble which the Buffaloes recovered at the Knights 33 yard line. Two plays later, quarterback John Scott found wideout Rodrice Merkerson at the Knights 13 yard line, Merkerson shook off a would be tackler and scampered into the endzone for a touchdown. The point after failed and the Buffaloes led 20-0 late in the first quarter.

The Buffs added three more touchdowns to finish off the scoring. One by Valley, AL native, running back Jamarcus Darden, another by McCaskey and finally by running back Keon Young. The Buffaloes will travel to Bessemer, AL this weekend to take on the Marvel City Tigers in a battle of two 1-1 teams. Kick-off is set for 5:30 pm.
