    Skrats Sweep Titans

The Renville County Muskrats (33-3, 10-0) found a couple of different ways to play games on Tuesday. They both worked but also shared one common theme. Game one was a gem on the mound backed by good defense, while game two was a slugfest, for the home team anyways. The Muskrats decided to bring the gloves to that game too. Those efforts resulted in the 7-1, 16-2 victories over the Garrison Titans.

RC got game ones highlight from Richard Cormier (7-0). Cormier went all seven innings finding trouble only in the fifth inning where he escaped a bases loaded jam after he had given up the first hit of the contest. Rich finished the game surrendering just 3-hits and striking out 5.

Behind Cormier there was a lot of solid defense with the only error coming on a dropped foul pop up. Adam Undlin led the team with 4 assists in the field making some nice pickups and showing some range on a few plays at second base.

In game two the Muskrat bats took out their game one frustration in a big way, putting up a 9-run first. Brady Hefter homered, his 6th of the season to tie Caleb Costello's pace. Hefter ended the game 2-3 with 3 RBI. Jacob Costello was also 2-3. Caleb Costello and Jon Skjordal each went 2-2. Skjordal and Caleb also added a double and 3 RBI to their efforts.

On the hill in game two was Jarod Weathers (4-0) who gave the Muskrats a couple good innings getting his fourth win. Weathers only gave up one hit. Frank Kopa entered in the third innings to get some work on the mound.

    Next Up

Renville will host rival Watford City today in a Section 6 doubleheader where both games will count towards section standings. RC brings in a 10-0 mark whereas Watford is 8-2. If the Skrats can take one of the two games they will wrap up the #1 seed in the Section 6 tournament. Watford City is in second place coming into the matchup and the two teams will occupy the top two spots in next week’s Section 6 tournament in Watford City regardless of the outcome of any other games the rest of the season.
