Mountain West Crush Softball Club Code of Conduct
Player’s Conduct:
- Maintain Positive Attitude
- Convey positive reinforcement to other team mates
- Treat umpires with respect at all times
- Let the umpires call the game
- Treat the game, your teammates, your opponents, all coaches and your parents with respect. No profanity is allowed.
- Remain in dug out during games and support players on the field- If the need to exit the dug out arises, talk to a coach before leaving.
- No friends, relatives or associates are allowed to sit with you in the dugout during games, or be involved in warm up sessions.
- Cheering is encouraged but must be positive and never directed at opposing team or any of their players
- Give 100% in practice and games
- When the coaches are talking, players are listening (That’s why God gave us 2 ears and one mouth, twice as much listening as talking).
- On time is 10 to 15 minutes early
- Inform coaches if you will be late or will miss practice or games
- Maintain Positive Attitude
- Convey ONLY positive reinforcement to players
- Let the coaches do the coaching- Do not coach your daughter from the stands. Children can recognize your voice in a crowd, especially negative comments- Help them stay focused.
- Parents are not allowed to discuss the performance of players other than their own children with the coaching staff.
- Cheer for your team, not against the other team
- Treat the umpires with respect- Let It Go
- No parents in the dugout during games
- If you feel your daughter needs some coaching pointers, communicate your concerns with the coaching staff first. If you must give your daughter coaching pointers, do it before or after the game.
- Feel free to approach coaches.
- Don’t make the ride home a prison- let the girls have room to breath after the game
- Maintain Positive Attitude
- Treat players, parents, umpires, spectators and opposing coaches with respect.
- Coaches will be approachable by parents and players, will listen to the concerns that are raised, and will respond courteously. Coaches will not evaluate players with parents, other than in response to direct questions about that parent’s own child.
- Use Positive reinforcement while teaching the game
- Coaches must be positive role models in the way they conduct themselves during and after the game.
- Coaches will display and instill in their players the principals of good sportsmanship and team play
- Coaches will conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players, parents and MWCSA
- Coaches will do their best to provide the players a positive experience
- Coaches will not ridicule or demean players
- Coaches will not tolerate players ridiculing or demeaning other players on the team or on the opposing team
- Coaches will ensure that winning or losing teams do so in a manner which exhibits respect and good sportsmanship
