Nether Providence’s American Legion program made history Wednesday, capturing the first sandlot division state title with a 2-1 walk-off win over Haverford.

Billy Corcoran turned in a masterful performance on the mound, going the distance without allowing an earned run. His sharply-hit ground ball in the bottom of the seventh was misplayed, enabling Anthony Viggiano to race home with the winning run.

Nether Providence coach Scott Renauro saw his squad finally break through for its first run in the sixth, when Justin Malley drove in Luke Mutz (two hits).
