    HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY?

    ºStats

If you're willing to help us keep the stats (All players have their full stats kept for every game - offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, points, shooting percentage and from which spots on the floor, foul shot percentage, steals, assists, and tips, we also video tape certain games) - you can subtract $200 from your season tuition.

    ºPractice Fees

Each team has a balance of $1,000 allotted for practice rental. Sometimes we don't use that much money, other times we get a gym for free and don't use any of it. Occasionally we practice outdoors. If this is the case, in which we don't use all or any of the $1,000 you will receive a refund at the end of the season. Rarely do we have a team that does not receive a refund.

For a cheaper spring tuition, we suggest you participate in one, some, or all of our fundraising programs:

º Participate in the Ad Book Fundraiser. You can ask friends, family members, businesses, store owners, etc. to purchase an ad in our book. The book gets distributed everywhere we go. Here are the listing options:

$25 - Donor level gets name listed in Ad Book

    $50 - Business Card Ad

$100 - Free Throw Sponsor Level - Quarter Page Ad

$250 - Community Sponsor Level - Half Page Ad

$500 - Three Point Shot Bronze Sponsor Level - Full Page Ad

$1000 - Half Court Team Silver Sponsor - Full page Ad and Ad on organization website

$5,000 - Gold Team Full Court Press Sponsor - Full Page Ad, Ad on organization website, and name on the shooting shirts for the team you sponsor.

$10,000 - Platinum Team Full Court Press Sponsorship - Full page ad, banner on website that links to your company's website, and the company name will be recognized by the entire Blast organization on all shooting shirts. These teams play along the east coast and the 12u team travels in Minnesotta. All teams play against teams from all over the United States.

Thankyou to the Ritz Carlton in New York for donating $500!!!

To participate in this fundraiser and/or to find out about ad book requirements (we prefer that the ads either be e-mailed, saved to a disk, or saved to a CD) please contact Reggie: Bask8ball247365@aol.com

Teams can also sell outside of a grocery store if you receive permission from that grocery store and if you have adults present.

To participate in this fundraiser please contact: Linda Lombrozo: llombrozo@aol.com

    ºMile Dribble

Every year we have a mile dribble competition. In the past, the most miles dribbled were 16!! Everyone in the program participates in this fundraiser. This year, the players will collect pledges and flat donations from family and friends and try to dribble as many miles as they can.

    ºOn-going Fundraisers

We've already been working on fundraisers so far this season, which will enable us to lessen some of the tuitions. Some of those fundraisers have been the ipod raffle that we did during the fall season, the New Years Eve Basketball Party, the Martin Luther King Fundraiser (We raised $945!!)... and we are currently trying to schedule another clinic to help with some of the costs.

    ºOther

If you can think of a fundraiser that you would like to help us do - please don't hesitate to suggest it. You can be a fundraising manager too.

    Tuition Fees per Player

Based on a Team of 10 players (if your team has more than 10, we will make the adjustment to your tuition) - fees include hotel stay for players, transportation is not included.

    THE FOLLOWING TEAMS ARE GIRLS: 11u - $932 / 12u B - $897 (at the end of season received a $224.08 refund) / 12u A - $1,590 / 13u - $1,053 (at the end of the season received a $163.14 refund) / 17u - $386 (at the end of the season received a $68 refund)

Blast uniform and insurance is $114 (if you do not already have it).

    A
    few new rules...

    1) Parents will be required to sign a parent behavior contract. The parents' meeting at the start of the season must be attended by a) new parents/players to the program, b) any parent who broke the behavior contract during the fall 2006 or winter 2006 season. All other parents are exempt from attending, but can attend if they want to.

    2) Players can try out for ANY TEAM THEY WANT in the Blast program as long as they don't try out for a younger team. Example, if a 10u player wants to tryout for 11u instead - she can. However, this does mean that if she doesn't make the 11u team - she may not make any team at all. Important rule: If a player is trying out for an older team, that player's parent must write to her age coach and explain why they are doing this. This will help prevent Blast coaches from believing that other Blast coaches are "stealing" their players. For example, if a 10u player who Samantha Garabed recruits to the Blast decides she wants to tryout for 15u Joe Colombo - then that 10u player's parent must write Sam an e-mail and copy Joe in explaining that she is trying out for an older team and why she is trying out for that team. Again, if she doesn't make that team - she may not make any team at all.

    3) Players can play on more than one AAU team as long as they: a) ALWAYS take the Blast team in priority... if Blast has a practice and the other AAU team has a world championship game - they must be at the Blast practice, no exceptions. b) THEY CAN'T PARTICIPATE WITH ANOTHER TEAM IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT OR IN ANY SANCTIONED TOURNAMENT... This is an AAU rule... not a Blast rule. If a player is on more than one AAU team, we must know the AAU team's name and the coach's name - and that AAU team and coach must know that she is on our team as well. No player should be on more than one team behind either AAU coach's back.As always, a player can be on more than one Blast team as long as she does not play on more than one in a sanctioned event.

    4) Players can miss certain Blast events for CLUB/ELITE teams or high school teams: travel, rec, etc. does NOT count and they can NOT miss for those. You must submit your club/elite team's full name, your coach's name and contact information, and their full-schedule, at the start of our season. Although we would like for her to take the Blast in priority, she is allowed to treat each team EQUALLY... Example - one day she misses a Blast game for a club soccer game - then the next time there's a conflict she's expected to be at the Blast game. The exception is the 12u team - they are not permitted to miss for any other sport or activity. This is a team with a very expensive tuition who will travel across the US to play in nationals. It is a bigger time and financial commitment than the other teams and it is a disadvantage to the team if players are missing.

    5) Every Blast team is AGE-BASED except for the Non-Travel Teams. This means that you MUST play at the age of your oldest player. This is their age as of January 1st. The other exception is the 11u team, which sometimes plays in grade-based tournaments. However, this year we are trying to eliminate all their grade-based tournaments to bring them entirely to age-based competition. If you are on a strong team, your team may play up in an older bracket. Example, last year's 11u team sometimes played up in 12u and 13u brackets and last year's 13u team sometimes played up in 14u and 15u brackets.

    6) Tuition must be paid in full before the first practice. In the past we were able to allow players to pay throughout the season. Unfortunately, due to two players who still have an outstanding balance due from spring 2006 and have made no attempt to pay their fees or return our phone calls or e-mails, we are unable to allow this.

    7) Most teams will have approximately 10 players on the team. Some teams have 12... the number of players on the team obviously effects playing time, but it also effects tuition - Tuition is based on the number of players on a team.

    8) Players from other AAU teams can NOT be practice players on the Blast!! In there past a few players from other AAU teams signed up to be practice players with the Blast because their AAU teams don't practice... or, don't give good instruction at their practices. The Blast practices can't be used by other players who want to play on other teams and don't want to commit to our program. The only practice players allowed are those who are not on any AAU team at all, but can't commit due to other sports, or maybe can't commit due to the travel, or at times are not strong enough yet to participate on the regular teams.
