The following home run rules will be used for the 2007 season:
Class "E" - any fair batted ball that remains untouched and over the fence in
fair territory will result in the batter being called "out" and ejected
offensively from the remainder of that particular game. That position in the
batting order will be considered an "out" for the remainder of that game, even
if substituted for. In addition, that action will be considered an "inning
ending" out. If a team's leadoff batter hits a "home run," then he will be
considered an "out" and ejected offensively for the remainder of the game and
that team's at bat will be ENDED for that particular inning.
Class "D" - any fair batted ball that remains untouched and over the fence in
fair territory will result in the batter being called "out." In addition, like
the Men's
"E" program, that action will be considered an "inning ending" out.
Class "C" - each team will be allowed two home runs. Any fair batted ball that
remains untouched and over the fence in fair territory will result in the batter
being called out. HOWEVER, one both teams have used the allotted number of
homeruns, the "1 Up" rule will be in effect. Each team will be allowed an
additional homerun until their opponent hit an additional homerun. If, for
example, the visiting team has hit their two home runs and the home team has hit
their two home runs, the visiting team can hit one additional home run. Each
additional home run after that will be an out UNTIL the home team, having
already hit their allotted number of home runs,
hits their next home run. At no time shall one team have hit more than one home
run that their opponent once both teams have "used up" their allotted number of
home runs.
Class "B" - each team will be allowed four home runs. Any fair batted ball that
remains untouched and over the fence in fair territory, after the two (2) HR's,
will result in the batter being called "out." HOWEVER, once both teams have
used the allotted number of home runs, the "1 Up" rule will be in effect. Each
team will be allowed an additional home run (see above for explanation).
7.) All local qualifying "C" tournaments in the North Texas USSSA area will be
considered "B/C" tournaments. Both Men's "B" and "C" teams will be allowed to
participate in the event. Men's "C" teams will receive double USSSA points for
their participation in these events.
8.) If a team wins a qualifying event or an NIT, that team's roster will be
frozen IMMEDIATELY. If a player is later released from that roster, and, if
that team is
bumped' at the end of the year, that released player WILL BE included with the
rest of that team's players as 'upper class' players for the following season.
9.) A manager has the right to refuse to release a player from a frozen roster.
BEFORE you agree to play with a team, make sure you understand this. If, after
playing with a team that has a frozen roster, you and the manager or team can't
get along, and the manager will not release you, there's nothing I, as the State
Director, can do about it. He (or she) has to be the one to allow you to be
released. A player can ONLY be released from one frozen roster per season per
program.
10.) According to the USSSA By-Laws, Article III, "Individual Player
Eligibility," Section 7 and 8, it states the following: "A team with a frozen
roster with less than ten players which has used all of its options for
additions and releases may apply for status of disbandment with the State
Director. If the approval is
given, the team forfeits all berths and sponsor travel monies earned. A
disbanded team may not reform with more than nine (9) players. Teams may not
apply for disbandment AFTER August 1st. A mixed team may not apply after
September 1st." NOTE: Teams that break up or that break up or that are not
advancing to championship play may also apply for disbandment.
Please make a note of the statement "IF approval is given ." If a team
applies for disbandment, IT MUST BE APPROVED by the State Director before a new
team can be created and can participate in a USSSA event.
Beginning in 2007, the North Texas USSSA website will be the ONLY website that
will issue USSSA information and will respond to any questions relating to North
Texas USSSA. This website will be up and operational by December
1st, 2006 and will be the OFFICIAL website of North Texas USSSA.
Unfortunately, there will not be a message board attached, so the Lone Star
Softball Message board will still serve its purpose of providing an outlet for
your views on softball.
Good luck to everyone in the upcoming 2007 season! If you have any questions,
please send me an e-mail to the following e-mail address:
northtexasusssa@verizon.net
Please note that this is a new e-mail address. As a work requirement, I will
not be answering any e-mails addressed to me at my Raytheon e-mail address.
Please do not flood my cell phone will calls telling me why your team can't play
'up' next year. This IS he 'bump list' and it will be enforced for the 2007
season. There is a process in place for appealing this ruling and it
doesn't begin until your team has played the necessary number of tournaments,
beginning in April 2007.
