At Columbia Falls, Anders Epperly scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Class B Vikings past the Class A Wildcats.

Beau Santistevan scored 12 points to join Epperly in double figures for Bigfork (6-1 overall). 

Matthew Morrison finished with a team-high 15 points and Dakota Bridwell pitched in with 10 more for Columbia Falls (1-5).

Hamilton stuns Maroons with buzzer beater

Carter Kearns hit a jump shot at the buzzer, and Hamilton spoiled Butte Central’s home opener with a 57-55 Southwestern A win Thursday night at the Maroon Activities Center.

The Maroons led most of the game, and the Broncs held the ball for the final minute and a half before Kearns sank the game winner.

Hunter Omlid scored 13 points to lead the Broncs, who hit on 13 shots from 3-point land. Ky Burch tossed in 11, and Kearns scored six.

Tanner Kump and Dan McCloskey each scored 14 to lead the Maroons.

 

Hamilton improves to 6-0 with the win. The Maroons fell to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

 

GFH boys pummel Havre

HAVRE – Brendan Howard hit a game-high 24 points Thursday night as Great Falls High pounded Havre 70-31 in a nonleague contest at the Blue Ponies’ gym.

 

Howard, who set an all-time Bison career scoring record Tuesday night, had nine field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers. Teammate Kellen Romsa drained five trifectas and finished with 18 markers, while Blake Thelan tossed in 10.

 

The Bison led by nine after the first stanza, then outscored the Ponies 20-8 in the second to go up 43-22 at the break, and took a 30-point advantage into the final quarter.

 

No Blue Pony player scored in double figures. Ivar Aageson had three of Havre’s four 3-pointers for nine points.

 

The Bison, 5-1 overall, are idle until after school reconvenes after the New Year.
