Volunteers need to do the following to volunteer...

• First, all participants must complete a background check before becoming an official NISD Volunteer. Safety and security is part of the volunteer process and it’s FREE. Follow this link to begin the background check. **DO NOT REGISTER HERE IF YOU REGISTERED LAST YEAR**  They have a new process this year and they retained profiles from last year.  If you register again and you have an existing profile, the new duplicate will not be processed.  Please try to sign into the Volunteer Portal with your previous credentials. 
• Second, once the background check has been approved, all volunteers will receive an email invitation to log on to their Volunteer Portal profile. Using the Volunteer Portal system will allow volunteers to choose which campus they want to help, record hours worked, and learn of additional volunteer opportunities.
