Paris Parks Foundation launches fundraising campaign “Field of Continuing Dreams”

The Paris Parks Foundation in cooperation with the Paris Youth Softball Association,  the Lions Club of Paris and the County of Brant have set a fundraising goal of $200,000 towards the renovations of the Pete Lavoie Fields located in Lions Park, Paris.

The fields were initially built in the 1960’s and even with care have become obsolete.  The needs of the growing community demand enlarged fields to expand their usage for youth up to 18 years of age.  The plans include bringing in new services to support the installation of lighting on one field , a new clubhouse with accessible washrooms and a concession area.  The fields will be entirely re-built to include two larger playing fields with a new infield base, turf, backstop, fencing, dugouts, pitchers warm-up area and spectator seating.  Additional parking and walkways will be constructed to provide both vehicular and pedestrian flow throughout the park.  Construction is scheduled to commence in August 2017, pending budget approval.

Information brochures are available at County Offices and On-Line.  Individuals and businesses can purchase meters of walkway, square metres of turf or ball diamond posts.  Charitable receipts will be prepared for any donation of $25 or higher. The project also offers naming rights to various ball diamond elements such as player’s benches, dugouts, bleachers, fencing, and the concession.  Items range from $500 for picnic tables to $100,000 to support the construction of the clubhouse.
