HOOPFEST SHOOTOUT  Rules

 

Game rules: We will use CIF rules plus ten second back court violation. 13u Boys and older will use 29.5 regulation men’s basketball. 12u and under and all girls’ games will use 28.5 regulation basketball. Free throws will be 1 and 1 at 7 team fouls and double bonus at 10.

  

14 minute Running Clock – (2) 14 minute stop clock.  If a team is up by 20 or more points in the 2ndhalf, the clock runs until the point differential is 10 points or less.  

 

Overtime – An overtime period will consist of two (2) minutes of regulation play. After two overtimes sudden death will be enforced in the third overtime. 

 

Timeouts – Each team will have Two (2) timeouts per game. Each timeout will be 40 seconds. One (1) additional time out will be granted per overtime period. Time outs do carry over into overtime. 

 

Warm ups – Pre-game (3 minutes) and half-time (2 minutes).  Pre-game warm-up and halftime may be limited due to time restraints.

 

Jersey – All teams must wear a basketball jersey uniform; shorts and tennis shoes. Home team is the first team listed.  Home team should wear light colored jerseys.

 

Tie Breaker System:

a)      Head to Head Play – The team that wins the head to head competition between the two teams will move on.

b)       Point System – A point differential system (among all the teams) will be used if three or more teams are tied. Teams will receive a maximum + or - 15 points. The team with the most positive points will be 1st place then 2nd place and etc. If two teams are still tied, they would revert to the first tie breaker system.

c)     Coin Toss  

Player Eligibility – Age is based on September 1, 2014.  A player should not be older than the division he is playing in before September 1, 2014.

 

Challenges – Challenges must be initiated prior to the game.  Challenges cost $50.00 per challenge, but if you (the challenger) are correct, the team challenged must not allow that player to compete and the challenger will receive their $50.00 back. Once the challenge has been made, the proof of burden is on the challenged coach. If the challenged coach shows proof (a school photo ID or class photo/yearbook.) we will reward the challenged coach by giving him the $50.00. Report cards and/or birth certificates are acceptable.

 

Playing on more than one team – Players are allowed to play on two teams if they are in different divisions.  The opposing coach must protest at the start of the game. Exceptions to these rules may be allowed if arranged in advance with the tournament director.

 

Conduct – All coaches are responsible for the behavior of their team and parents. Conduct of players and coaches should be above reproach both on and off the court. Any misbehavior or misconduct, on or off the court, will be subject to individual and/or team disqualification from the tournament.

 

Admission:  $8.00 13 and up ; $5.00 5 thru 12 : Children 4 and under free

 

 

All protest will be heard by the tournament director. All decisions made by the director are final.
