Indians Crown the Royals
The Tribe got back into the win column on Sunday with a come from behind win over the Royals. The Indians got off a a quick start and put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st and led 3-0 and after 1. The Royals bats came alive off Indians starter Paul Engelken and started dropping hits infront of the Tribe's outfielders to take a 1 run lead after two innings 4-3.
From there it was a bit of a see-saw battle back and forth until the Royals finally built a 6 run lead. But the Indians would mount a comeback, something the Tribe has been unable to do much of this season. The Indians would send 11 batters to the plate in the 7th inning and score 7 runs to give the Tribe a 15-13 lead and would then add three more in the bottom of the 8th to run the lead out to 5 for the Tirbe. With Kenny Mckechnie on, the Indians would hold on to win the game by the final of 18-13.
A number of players stepped up for the Indians on Sunday. Leadoff hitter Daniel Moore picked up three hits including two doubles, Jason Christian, Tom Turner and Ron Cimino all went 4 for 5 on the day, with Cimino picking up 5 RBI's to earn the offensive player of the game.
In other action around the league, the Dodger defeated the Storm 12-11, the Bats knocked off the Red Sox, Dirtlines by 10 over the Solons, the Redbirds took out the Giants 18-14 and the A's beat the Longhorns 8-4. With the Indains win, the Tribe keeps pace with the A's and remain tied for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The Indians are next in action against the A's on Sunday at River City High School. This double header will be crucial for both teams, a sweep will give the winner a two game lead for the last playoff spot, with just 4 games left to play. Check back on Sunday for results of this weekends action.
