RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The SoCal Bombers will be sending eight representatives to the 2017 SCCBL All-Star Game in Palm Springs on Saturday, July 8th.

Aaron Meers, Joey Magro, Conner Shepherd, Jimmy Smith, Chris Sandberg, Andrew Miner, Anthony Villegas and Logan Frye will represent the Bombers, with Smith participating in the Home Run Derby prior to the game.

Meers is a freshman outfielder out of Neosho Community College in Kansas.  He is currently tied for the team-lead in home runs with Smith at three a piece.  He is one of the top offensive producers with 21 hits and 17 RBI.  He is one of five Bombers with a triple this summer.  His 15 RBI rank second on the team.

Magro, a junior at Biola University, has logged 27 hits hits this summer.  He lead sto the team 40 total bases and also has 17 RBI as well as being extremely versatile in the field.  Magro has seen time at first, second, third and the outfield.  He has racked up two home runs and a .323 batting average.

Shepherd comes to the Bombers from Mt. SAC and leads the team with 19 RBI.  Of his 23 hits this year, 11 have been doubles, which is a team best.  Shepherd is another versatile asset on the field as he has seen time at both corner positions as well as the outfield and as a DH.

A senior at Central Washington University, Smith will be representing the Bombers’ representative in the Home Run Derby.  He is tied for the team-lead in home runs with three so far this year.  He leads the team with a .717 slugging percentage and 1.173 OPS.  His power at the plate has been on display throughout the season, including a game in Pasadena where Smith hit a ball off a nearby building a few feet past the left field fence.  He will be an exciting player to watch in the derby this year.

The Bombers’ wall behind the plate, Sandberg will also be representing the team in Palm Springs.  The sophomore out of Mt. SAC has caught five runners attempting to steal this season.  Sandberg is just as good at the plate as he is behind the plate, as he is tied for second in home runs with two, and RBI with 15.

Miner leads the pitching staff with a 1.64 ERA, allowing just two earned runs in 11 innings on the mound.  He has 14 strikeouts on the season and has allowed just six hits.
