RIVERSIDE, Calif. - It was a hard fought battle on Tuesday afternoon as the SoCal Bombers traveled to San Diego to take on the Force in game one of the SCCBL Playoffs.  It was the Force, though, who came out on top by a score of 4-3.

Both starting pitchers threw a solid seven innings, each allowing three runs.  Cody White had a strong outing for the Bombers as the defense helped out behind him.  The Bombers did not make an error and Chris Sandberg kept the running game in check from behind the plate.  Sandberg threw out all three would-be base stealers.

The Bombers got on the board in the top of the first as Chris Palmer got things going with a leadoff double.  Joey Magro moved Palmer to third and an RBI single from Daniel Dominguez put the Bombers up 1-0.

A two-run shot from Force catcher, Byron Smith, gave San Diego a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third.

The Bombers looked to regain the lead in the top of the seventh as Jimmy Smith got things started with a single up the middle.  A double from Sandberg brought in Smith to tie the game at two.  Eric Mendez put the Bombers on top with a single to left center, knocking in Sandberg.

A two-out, two RBI single from the Force’s Trevor Abrams in the bottom of the eighth gave the Force the push they needed to take a 4-3 lead.

With the Force taking game one of the three-game series, the Bombers have to win both games of a double header on Wednesday to keep their season alive.  The series shifts to La Sierra where game one is slated for 1 p.m.  If necessary, game two will being 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
