Cardinals Get Second No-Hitter
After a slow start, the Cardinal bats came alive for 17 hits in a 17-0 victory over the Astros. Brandon Schmidt struck out 5 in route to his first no-hitter of the season. The Astros' Dalton led off the first with a hard bouncer to Jared Staton at 3rd, who handled it easily for the out. In the 2nd inning, catcher Ian Mayfield fired a strike to shortstop Donovan Mills to catch the Astros' Bryan on his attempt to steal 2nd base. Schmidt then struck out the Astros' Dylan on a nasty changeup pitch for the 3rd out of the inning. In the 3rd, Zach Mitchell made a nice catch on a short fly near first base for the second out. On offense, Dale Abraham and Zach Mitchell went 3 for 3 to lead the team. Mitchell had 2 doubles and a single, scored twice, had 2 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Abraham, along with Alex Mitchell, had a game high 4 RBIs each. Abraham was the stolen base leader with 5. The Cardinals improved their record to 14-0 with only 3 games left in the season and will visit the Storm next.
