The South River Ice Hockey team began its highly anticipated season with a tie to Archbishop Spalding. South River started the game off taking a two goal advantage with a goal in the first from Nick Kandra (assisted by Vinnie Venuti and Andrew Martin) the next goal came in the second period, scored by Ty Kaplow. Spalding answered back with three goals of their own taking a 3-2 lead in the third period. South River was able to answer back with a goal in the third from Andrew Martin, (assisted by Vinnie Venuti). Time in net was split between Zach Baxter (23 minutes, 13 SOG, GA 1) and Evan Jones (22 minutes, 15 SOG, GA 2).
