South Western York "Steals" A Win Over Wrightsville for Another Road Victory
Southwestern York journeyed to East Prospect and defeated host Wrightsville 7-2. In a hot, muggy evening game, SW York bats managed only 6 hits, but manufactured 7 runs by using a few walks and 12 stolen bases. Leading the scampering around the basepaths was Ian Stambaugh, with 4 swiped bags. Brian Bossom and Matt Hockenberry continued to swing big sticks, each with a pair of hits and RBI's -- Bossom raked a triple and Hockenberry a double as the only two extra base hits in the game. On the mound, Hockenberry battled a tight strike zone but still allowed only 2 runs on 3 hits, while fanning 8. Kurt Seiders came in to close things out by throwing the final two innings, giving up no runs and 1 hit, while adding 3 more strikeouts to his line.
SW York clashes next with unbeaten Bermudian at South Western HS on Wednesday June 10 at 6:00.
