South Western York Express Rolls Past Hanover
South Western York's offense picked up where it left off in Sunday's non-league win by trouncing Hanover 11-4 at Post 14's Diller Field. Like the strength that Samson of the Bible gained from his long locks, the compact and fleet afoot Ian Stambaugh may be packing a punch thanks to his flourishing "frohawk" haircut. Whatever the reason, Stambaugh set the offensive tone early by nearly slamming his first out-of-the-park homer when his long line drive dented the left-field wall. Stambaugh settled for a double but later stroked two more hits on the night. Stambaugh's three hits were part of a 17 hit SW York barrage, including five extra base hits.
Brian Bossom, a.k.a., "Boss", tamed Hanover's bats for five scoreless innings before giving up a two run homer in the 6th. In relief, Eric Moul retired Hanover in the 7th without allowing a run.
SW York remains in 1st place with a 9 - 0 league record. Next game: Littlestown at SWHS Field, 6 PM, Wednesday, June 17.
