MUSTANGS COME UP VICTORIOUS !!! --- BEAT RIVAL ARBOR VIEW 13-8

During a season of a lot of ups and downs, the Shadow Ridge Mustangs came up huge against their big time rival, the Aggies from Arbor View. The Aggies have been enjoying a pretty successful season and the Mustangs have been through some big time wins, but they have suffered some humbling losses.

But Thursday afternoon for the Mustangs was a definite Big Time Win for the players and coaches of Shadow Ridge. Having to travel to their long time rival's field, The Farm at Arbor View, the Mustangs were underdogs of the greatest magnitude. The Aggies ranked #3 in the Las Vegas area for Varsity baseball, with the Mustangs, not even in the top ten.

The game started off as most people would have expected, the Aggies taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but the Mustangs didn't let that last very long, coming up with 3 runs of their own in the top of the third, when Eric Jordan hit a monster shot over the left center field wall, knotting the score at 3's.

Amazingly, the Aggies came right back with a 2 spot in the bottom half of the inning, when Ryan McHale hit his own Mega-monster shot over the center field fence, to give the Aggies the lead again at 5-3.

But what a game this would end up being, as the Mustangs scored 3 more times in the top of the fourth inning, giving them back the lead, at 6-5. A zero was finally put on the board in the bottom half of the Aggies fourth inning, and then amazingly the Mustangs of Shadow Ridge put up a couple insurance runs, to take an 8-5 lead.

Then in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Aggies decided that they were not going to go down this easy to their Rivals of Shadow Ridge, and scored 3 runs to unbelievably tie the score at 8-8.

The momentum seemed to be on the side of the Aggies, but the Mustangs showed some BIG time CHARACTER by putting a 5 spot, yes I said a 5 spot on the board in their top half of the seventh inning. Now just needing 3 outs to put away the number 3 ranked team in Las Vegas, the Mustangs depended on Chris Opolka to get the job done, and he did!!!

The Mustangs had done it, they went into the den of the Aggies, and stole away an incredible VICTORY, handing the Aggies only their 7th loss of the season. A memory that will last for a long time.

The Mustangs got their pitching done on the arms of Jake Wilson, who started the game and went 3 innings, and Chris Opolka who handled the final 4 innings of the game.

The Mustangs ended up with 10 hits on the day, getting 2 each from Dustin McDonald, double, Robbie Galvan, and Jordan, who had a 3 run HOME RUN AND a run scoring triple.

What a HUGE VICTORY for the Mustangs of Shadow Ridge, and have their final two conference games next week, and then follow that with the Regional Tournament, to see who plays for State.

Great job Mustangs, now take care of business next week in Conference play.   See ya at the Field!!!
