Opening Game
The first, but really 4th game of the season found the Juice in familiar territory...The bats were hot, the gloves were not!!!

The first inning was a prelude to what the season will look like at the plate. The Juice posted runs in all but 1 inning of the 18-14 win over a much talked about Denver Bulls. Although the runs piled up for the Juice, critical runs were often left on base. Juice pitchers took a beating on the hill; not from the bats of the Bulls, rather from the gloves of fellow teammates. 8 errors led to runs crossing the plate for the bulls, and allowed them to pull within striking distance. In the bottom of the 6th the Bulls where able to tie the game on a 3 run homer by #42. However, errors and bad pitching by the Bulls allowed the Juice to recover those lost runs. The Juice lineup ultimately proved to be to strong for the Bulls. Three pitching changes where made in the course of 1 inning as the Juice rallied and put 6 more runs on the board in the top of the 7th. Rookie pitchers Mike S. and Tim B. where able to stem the rush of runs by the Bulls and helped put the game out of reach.

All in all, the Juice did what they do best, win! Thanks to everyone for putting the Juice on the board with our first win of the season. Many more will follow.

In other news....who did the book? Hopefully this won't come off preachy. I know keeping the book isn't the greatest job, most of the time it means you're on the bench. It isn't a punishment, rather a very critical piece of the team. Its importance to the team has come into play several times throughout the years. We have referred the book and have been able to prove we scored an uncounted run, or we were able to show someone on the other team batted out of order, thus causing the other team an out in a critical point in the game. Most importantly, it keeps all of you off our back when we post stats. We need to know when, who, and how an out was made. We need to know if someone got a single, double, triple or home run. We need to know how an error was committed. We need to know how many balls, and strikes a pitcher makes. We need to know when someone enters a game, and when they leave. It is very difficult to go back through a book when the only thing entered is a filled in diamond indicating a run scored. If you don't know how to score something in the book, just ask one of us. If we make a mistake and tell you the wrong thing then it's our fault, and we'll get it corrected. I know we all enjoy looking at our stats and seeing how things are going. Mark and I will be at the Ft. Lupton field early next Sunday to go over how we would like the book kept. The book and stats are vital to winning, and to having fun.
