Union unloads in third quarter with 28 points for a 42-6 district win!

The Union Knights traveled to Monticello as a battle of (2-0) teams took place in 2A district 4.
 
Union's offense rolled with 23 first downs and did not have to punt the entire game behind the rushing of Dylan Stech (15 rushes, 141 yds, 2 TDs) and Britton Rolison ( 19 rushes, 116 yds, 1 TD). Jace Glenn also added run game fire power with two rushes for 25 yards and two TDs.   Troy Hanus rushed for one TD and was 9 of 14 throwing the ball for 139 yards to John Boisen (5 rec, 54 yards), Koby Alpers (3 rec, 45 yards), and Brock Hadachek (1 for 40 yds).
 
Defensively the Knights gave up their first points of the year in th 2nd quarter.   For nine consecutive quarters the Union defense was perfect.   The Knight defense was led by Drew Edwards wtih five tackles, along with Jordan Schmitz and MIcheal Ahrendsen with four.   Five players had three.  Edwards and Daycen Douglass each had a fumble recovery.  Senior Clayton Thiele had an interception to bring the Knight turnovers to three.  The defense had a total of five sacks and four tackles for loss.
 
Dakota Hora was six of six in the point after touchdown department and had seven kickoffs for a 55 yard average.
 
The Knights will continue district play vs. Oelwein on Friday night with kickoff starting at 7:30pm.  Union is (3-0) on the year and (1-0) in district play.
