Union opens district play with 44-14 win over Roland Story!

The Union Knights traveled to Story City on Friday night for their district 2A opener and 

came home with a 44-14 win.
 
Hi-lights included sophomore Isaiah Vaughan rushing for over 200 yards and five touchdowns
in the first half to help Union take a 37-7 lead.   Vaughan ended up with 15 rushes for 246 yards and five TDs on the Knight being pulled after first series in third quarter.
 
Quarterback John Boisen, also a sophomore, was 8 fo 13 with one TD, one INT, and 106 yards connecting 4 times to Dylan Bear (4 rec, 40 yds), 2 times to Tate Hadachek (2 rec, 35 yds) and one to Justin Carey and Brady Driscol.   Boisen also rushed fro 66 yds on five carries.  Noah Garwood rushed for 46 yards on 10 carries and Jace Hadachek added 32 with six carries.  Driscol had one rush for 24 yards.
 
The Knight defense stepped up big with three interceptions (Brady Driscol, Wes Kaufman, Tate Hadachek).   Leading tacklers for the Knights were:  Jace Hadachek (7T), Brock Hadachek (6T, one sack), and with four tackles Justin Carey, Dylan Bear, and Wes Kaufman.   Carey and Kaufman also had sacks.
 
Dakota Hora hit a 29 yard field goal and Brady Driscol had a big blocked punt to lead the special teams.  
 
Next week the Union Knights play at home vs undefeated 2A district opponent South Tama.
 
The Knights are currently (2-1) overall and (1-0) in district play.
