Congratulations to Sr. Wes Burnside for being invited to 2012 Iowa Shrine Bowl

Add another accomplishment to the Wes Burnside resume' of success, Iowa Shrine Bowl 2012. The list of Union football players that have played in the Iowa Shrine Bowl is short one. Only two others, Jared Wauters (Elberon) and Jason Fowler (Dysart), have experienced what is truly an amazing experience that takes place each July in Ames, Iowa. Athletes selected are amazingly gifted on the field but also possess character/leadership off the field.

This game is an all star game of sorts. It brings the finest talent in Iowa High School football through all levels of play 8-man through 4A. It also brings together coaches from every level. It divides the talent north and south with the line being highway 30. However, the real stars are the kids helped by the generosity of the Iowa Shriners. The amount of time and energy it takes to put this all together is huge. For more information on how the game changes lives each year, click here: Iowa Shrine Bowl

Good luck Wes! You are representing the communities that make Union one of the best kept secrets in the state. If you get a chance to THANK a Shriner please do so... GO KNIGHTS!
