Knights celebrate Patriot Night by brave effort with 6.5 min left in game to win, 34-33!

Union Knights keep fighting 'til the last tick is off the clock. We won't back down we never have, we never will...

A great ball game was played Friday night in La Porte City and fans that stayed until the end will have a story to tell. After all the things that went wrong for nearly three and a half quarters, the magic happened in the last six and a half minutes.

Two consecutive turnovers, one caused by a fumbled punt return recovered by Brian Dunkelberger, and another caused by swarming defense recovered by Nic Peters, allowed the Knights an opportunity to have hope in the end.

Bottom line a PAT by Brady Petersen and TD catch from Mitchell Dierks from Jay Scheel put Union in the driver seat with less than one minute to play, 34-33. Waukon had two passes that were completed and crossed the fifty into Knight territory. After the second completion the final tick of the clock went off as the Indians tried to spike the ball.

End result, Union wins 34-33 in arguably the best comeback in the last six years. The Knights move to 5-1 and travel to Hampton-Dumont in a battle of two more teams that moved down from 3A football to 2A this year.
