Sports Concussion Awareness

March 25, 2016

UMLL is providing the following link -- http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/index.html -- to important information on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website to help keep our volunteers, including Directors, coaches, umpires, and parents, informed of how to detect and respond to the signs of a concussion in our players.

The goal of the HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports initiative is to help ensure the health and safety of young athletes by offering information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The HEADS UP initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.

Embedded within the HEADS UP to Youth Sports program is the same free concussion training program that we are requiring our league directors, managers, coaches, and umpires to complete this pre-season.  As parents of our players, we encourage you to also complete the training course, as well, to ensure all parties who interact with UMLL's players are best prepared to protect our kids.
