It was recently announced that the City of Columbia has been awarded the ACHA South Regional Finals fir the 2010-2011 season. It will take place February 18-19th 2011 at IcePlex Irmo, which is the home rink of the USC Ice Hockey Club. The Gamecocks have previously qualified for this tournament during the 2008-09 season and although they are not guaranteed an entry it does provide additional motivation for the upcoming season. This tournament will feature 8 of the top teams from the South Region vying for 2 entries to the National Tournament. Last season Florida and Arkansas represented the South and the SECHC as the final 2 teams to earn a berth to Nationals.

The Gamecocks will officially start with on-ice workouts September 6th with the first home game scheduled for October 8th.
