Major Tips From Your Coaches - 2009 !
    Mississauga Majors AAA

THROWING - Good alignment and quick feet will increase your chances of
    making accurate throws.
    - Practice how you would play in a game situation.
    - The better care you take of your arm the better you will throw.
    - Long toss to strengthen, maintain and prevent arm and shoulder
    injuries.
    - Throw with passion. Remember that recreational throwing can be
your best practice. Focus on a target (partner's chest) and try
to hit it every time. Throwing is to baseball as skating is to
hockey, if you can't throw you can't play baseball.

FIELDING - Be aggressive on routine ground balls; field every one in the
middle of your body to protect you against a bad hop.
    - Back up your teammates on every play; encourage them to do the
    same.
    - Get to know your pitcher. Don't be on your heels when the pitch
    is crossing home plate.
    - Go through a mental checklist before every pitch, situation,
balls, strikes, outs, runners on base, etc.
    - Looking for location of pitches. Bat angles can often help you
get that extra step to make the play.
    - Study hitters, pay close attention to their strength, weakness
tendencies. This will help you position yourself on the field
    better.

HITTING - Know your hitting objective before you step into the batter's
    box. For example, situation hitting.
    - Select a bat you can handle. Bat speed is the most important,
not how big of a bat you swing.
    - By average, you will fail seven out of ten times as a good
hitter. Being able to deal with failure more times than success
    is critical.
    - Do not get down on yourself about previous at bats. Take
advantage of every new at bat and believe you're going to do
    something good.

PITCHING - Think positive at all times, never get down on yourself in any
    situation.
    - Mentally concentrate on your sign, target, selection and
location, prior to delivering a pitch.
    - Develop rhythm and consistency through mechanics.
    - Be the best conditioned athlete on your team.
    - Be confident and aggressive. Know you can get every hitter out
    on every pitch you throw.

BASE RUNNING - Always think next base. Be aggressive.
    - When arriving at any base always find the ball.
    - Slide on anything close.
    - Never get picked off standing up.
    - Never make the first or third out at third base.
    - Touch each base with your right foot when rounding the
bases, it will save you valuable steps around the bases.
