Victor Moves on to Section V Class A Finals -- Defeating Webster Schroeder 2-0

Chayse Ierlan came up big in net as Webster Schroeder pressured Victor all night on Thursday at the Gene Poliseni Ice Arena (http://pointstreak.com/prostats/gamesheet_full.html?gameid=3288002).  Chayse turned away all 30 shots and many were high quality scoring opportunities.  Scoreless through the first two periods, Victor cracked through first as Jack McCandless jammed home a rebound off of Cal Lambert’s shot off the backboards that eluded the Schroeder keeper.  A little less than nine minutes remained.  A little bit of puck luck coupled with smart play by Ashton Collazo led to the second goal.  Ashton barely beat a Schroeder defensemen to a loose puck just outside the Victor zone.  His nice chip off the boards to himself sent him streaking down the right side. His shot from just inside the right circle clipped off a defenseman’s stick and snuck up and over the keeper’s shoulder to give Victor some needed breathing room.  Victor buckled down for the next four and a half minutes to keep Schroeder off the scoresheet with Chayse again turning away opportunities for Schroeder.  Victor(18-0-4) next plays Penfield (16-4-2) on Monday, Feb 26 at 8:00 at the Gene Poliseni Ice Complex at RIT for the Class A Sectional Title.  The first 100 Victor students with an ID get in free – come out and support the boys in this big game!
