The Wellsburg Colts are located in Wellsburg, WV and have been around for more than 50 years! We are proud to be one of 14 teams participating  in the Ohio Valley Youth Football League which is made up of  teams from two states, West Virginia and Ohio. We have three hardworking teams:

The Bantam Division— 7-8 years

The Jr.Varsity Division— 9-10 years

The Varsity Division— 11-12 years

OUR GOALS

The purpose of this organization is to introduce and encourage the game of football and cheerleading to area youths while teaching them life skills that include sportsmanship, character growth, and fair play with an emphasis on safety in all coaching techniques.  We believe that this is best accomplished by each child participating in every game.  It is also the policy of this organization to promote academic achievement among its participants.

Age requirements

Bantams: 7-8 (Must be 7 Before September 30th)

JV: 9-10 (as of July 15th)

Varsity: 11-12 (No player can turn 13 during the season)

ALL NEW PLAYERS MUST HAVE A COPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR THE COLTS FILE AT TIME OF SIGN-UPS.

What you can do to help...

Fundraising

The Wellsburg Colt Football League is a non-profit organization funded primarily by our registration fees, our annual fundraiser, and the generosity of our community. In order to keep registration fees reasonable, it is required that all parents participate in the fundraiser or take advantage of the buy-out opportunity.

Donations

Any and all donations are welcomed and appreciated.  However, it is required for every player to supply one case of Coca Cola product per child to help support various events throughout the season. Further details will be supplied to you at time of sign ups.

Code of Conduct

All players, parents and/or guardians, team volunteers, and coaches will be asked to acknowledge a code of conduct at the start of the year pledging to behave properly and demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout their association with the Wellsburg Colts. The objective of this Code of Conduct is to encourage standards of behavior and positive attitudes while ensuring due process for misconduct.

Volunteer

As with any non-profit organization, we rely purely upon the work of parent/family volunteers to keep the organization going. It is an obligation for Football Parents to volunteer in order to keep registration fees to a minimum,  EVERYONE needs to do their part to help to keep things running smoothly!

Become a Booster

The Boosters are volunteers and parents of Players and Cheerleaders that organize and coordinate the "off the field" details of the Football season. One of the many Boosters efforts is to coordinate fundraising events. This is even more critical during these VERY difficult economic times. Funds raised each year support the program and provide the necessary equipment and apparel, as well as other activities throughout the season. The Boosters oversee the concession stand, man the front gate, organize the annual bonfire, coordinate the end of the year Football banquet, and are involved in many other activities in support of the Players and Cheerleaders throughout the year.
