Open Board Positions
The WHYS Board of Directors consists of nine (9) voting members. Additional officers that assist in WHYS operations include Division, Camp and Concessions Directors as well as a Webmaster. Each member performs specific tasks based on their position but basic responsibilities for all include the following as needed:
1. Attendance at WHYS Board Meetings (1-2 hours each month)
2. Assistance with spring and fall signups (twice a year or as needed)
3. Field duty during the season (twice a year or as needed)
4. Tournament support (two weekends per year or as needed)
5. Field Maintenance Work Days (twice a year or as needed)
We have provided a brief description of each members specific responsibilities below. Those listed in Red with an asterisk (*) will be open at the end of the 2009 spring season. If you have an interest in helping to fill any of these positions please send an email to info@whysoccer.org or contact any existing board members before May 10th.
Commissioner - Voting
· Executive Officer of WHYS
· Supervise and control all of the business and affairs for the WHYS subject, however, to the control of the Board and the Bylaws
· Cast the deciding vote in the case of a tie vote or he may waive the right to do so
· Represent league for matters with the City of White House
· Elected to a two (2) year term each odd year election
Deputy Commissioner - Voting
· In the event of the Commissioner’s inability to act, perform the duties of the Commissioner
· Oversight of registration
· Publicity for the league
· Responsible for team uniform orders
· Elected to a two (2) year term each even year election
* Treasurer - Voting
· Shall have or provide for the custody of the funds of the League
· Responsible for accountability of all league funds
· Responsible for preparing and filing all financial records and reports for the League
· Elected to a two (2) year term each odd year election
* Secretary - Voting
· Attends all meetings of the Board of Directors, and shall record all the votes and minutes of the meetings
· Perform other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Board or Commissioner

Director of Referees - Voting
· Coordinate clinics and instruction for referees and linesperson to meet league and state standards
· coordinate with the Director of Coaches league game scheduling and appoint referees for all games and tournaments
· propose and uphold any local playing rules for the League
· Elected to a two (2) year term each even year election
* Director of Coaches - Voting
· Shall be in charge of the technical aspects of the league
· Set up clinics and training sessions for coaches and players as needed
· Work with the league coaches for technical and fundamental preparation of the teams
· Secure coaches for teams with help from Division Directors
· Manages draft and team formation process
· Creates season game and practice schedules
· Serve as communicator between the age group directors and the Board of Directors on administrative and program matters
· Elected to a two (2) year term each odd year election
* Director of Fields and Equipment - Voting
· Responsible for seeing that all fields are lined and mowed
· Responsible for securing equipment: goals, soccer balls, nets, and keeping inventory of same
· Responsible for any other general maintenance items
· Elected to a two (2) year term each odd year election
* Tournament Director - Voting
· Coordinates all aspects of the league’s select and or recreational tournaments
· Seeks the support of other applicable board members for their expertise in carrying out the details of approved league tournaments
· Elected to a two (2) year term each odd year election
Director of Select - Voting
· Coordinates all facets of the select program
· Aids in the selection of coaches; scheduling tryouts, practices, training and games
· Elected to a two (2) year term each even year election
* Division Directors (several age groups)
· Division Directors are responsible for a specific age group
· Secures coaches and manages team drafts
· Liaison between coaches and WHYS Board to resolve issues for their specific age group
· Communicates information to coaches in a timely manner
· Appointed or elected as needed
* Director of Concessions
· Coordinates all facets of the concessions stand
· Secures supplies and stocks concessions each week
· Responsible for management of concession worker resources
· Maintains
· Appointed or elected as needed
* Director of Camps
· Coordinates summer training camp for recreational division
· Solicits support for summer camp to generate acceptable attendance
· Appointed or elected as needed
* Webmaster
· Maintains league website
· Uploads teams, rosters and game schedules as needed
· Maintains league email list and distributes blast emails as needed
· Appointed or elected as needed
