January 2016 Meeting Minutes

 Wickliffe Baseball League Meeting - 1/21/2016

Start time 8:30pm

Roll Call:

Executive Board – Pugh, Novotney, Levon, Bunn

Excused – Pasquino, Gamber, Johnson

Trustees - Shirer, Rossman

Excused – Bala

 

Motion by Levon, seconded by Pugh to approve the minutes of the meeting of 11/19/15. Motion passed

 

Officer Reports:

VP - The contract with the I&A hall has been signed for the Game Show Night fundraiser and the menu has been created.  Rick has asked for volunteers to help set up on Thursday, February 4th, from 7-8:30.  We are trying to sell 262 tickets for this event.

We have also signed the rental agreement with Earn-It Sports for the winter clinics/practices. 

Rick asked Tim to scan some pictures we found while cleaning out the equipment room to the website and Facebook.  Hopefully, people can be tagged and bring more traffic and interest back into the organization.

Treasurer– Kathy announced the income/expense report for December-January 2016, which is attached below. 

 

1)      Checking account balance - $2731.93

2)      Savings account balance - $2525.48

3)      Cooperstown 2017  - $2200.07

4)      Other Savings - $415.03

 

She had to transfer $1,500 from the savings account to the checking account to pay for the $1,500 that the league is paying for the winter clinics at Earn-It Sports.  The checking account has to have a minimum balance of $2,500 or the account is penalized with charges.

 

Secretary – No report

 

Equipment Manager – (Per the VP) While cleaning out the equipment room, we noticed that there were no bases in the room, so we think that they are still in the field boxes.  The fields were divvied up between members of the board to check the boxes and return everything in them to the Provo House. 

 

Rich still needs the keys to the Provo house.

 

We need more shelving to hold the equipment and an engraver to make sure our equipment is up-to-date and safe for the kids.  The current equipment isn’t dated, and it should be updated on a cycle based on a certain number of years.  We will have to look at purchasing new catcher’s equipment and batting helmets this year.

 

We need to contact all of the managers and make sure all of the equipment was returned.

 

The lights in the equipment room look like they were pulled out.  We will need to re-install them in the ceiling.

 

Umpire in Chief – No report

 

Player Development Manager – No report

President –  The meeting to create each team’s schedule will be April 10th at the Willowick Community Center. A manager or a coach from each team must attend or someone else from the league will schedule their games.

Teams will get 2 pts for a win, 1 point for a tie, ½ point for a loss, and 0 points if no game is played.  There is no minimum number of games needed to be played to qualify for the playoffs.

Registration cutoff will be on March 15th

If lightening strikes twice at a game, the game will be deemed a rain out.

Runners no longer have to be set when the pitcher comes set in the Majors.

Old Business

Motion by Levon, seconded by Pugh to approve the WBL Bylaws that were written and presented by Levon in October.  Motion approved.

New Business:

1)      Bunn made a motion to donate any girls’ equipment in or equipment room to the girls league.  Seconded by Pugh.  Motion approved.

2)      Bunn made a motion to allow the girls to purchase field dry from our league at our cost.  Seconded by Levon.  Motion approved.

3)      Bunn made a motion to no longer charge a fee to volunteering managers and coaches during registration.  Seconded by Pugh.  Motion approved.
