COACHING STAFF
CHRIS HIGHBROWN
Coach Chris is our Head Tumble coach & gives input to each of our cheer teams as well as personally coaching prep teams for the community school and recreational cheerleaders during their 'off' season in order to hone their skills & prepare them for their coming season with school activites and community rec leagues. Chris instructs a Wednesday evening tumble class with more advanced tumble skills. His teaching background (all subjects K-6) puts him out front in his teaching instruction with tumbling. Chris has 20 years of gymnastics experience . . . 10 of those years with coaching children of all ages in gymnastics lessons and cheer tumble. Titles supported by Chris are, to mention a few: GYM DIRECTOR/COACH/TUMBLING INSTRUCTOR at Cheer Champs & Xtreme Outlaws All Star gyms where he coached the Youth, Junior Prep, Juniors and Senior teams and gave tumble insturction (beginner-advanced tumblers) as well as conducting camps and private lessons; GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR at New Generation Gymnastics where he instructed in cheer tumble and gymnastics at various levels with ages 3 years to 18 years; HEAD GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR at Champions for Life working with all ages in cheer tumble and gymnastics instruction as well as privates with children with disabilities (such as Autism/Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Down Syndrome/Osteogenesis Imperfecta). Chris also makes himself available for private tumble lessons.
AMY HILL
Coach Amy Hill is Head Coach with Xcel~Rebels Junior cheer division. She was a high school cheerleader for two years which developed into 7 years as cheer coordinator for the PPAL Land O'Lakes Gators rec league; 1 year as head coach for the PPAL LOL Gators varsity team which claimed 1st place State Championships; 2 years as head coach at Pine View Middle School; as well as her years coaching Xcel All Stars at the Senior and Junior levels. She has attended 6 years of the CTC sponsored All Star coach's Convention where she has further expanded her cheer & tumble knowledge. Cheerleading has recently become a true sport and Coach Amy has done her homework to keep up with the changing times through coaching and attendance at the CTC conventions. She is employed by Pasco School Board and has coached the Pine View Middle School cheer & pep squads. Coach's words, "I feel privileged to coach the chldren in and around the Land O'Lakes area and strive to provide a safe and exciting environment for them to learn and thus develop a love for the sport of cheerleading".
NANCY DENICOURT
Coach Nancy coaches the Mini II (8&under) cheer division. Cheer experience consists of 3 years as owner & founder of Florida Rebel All Stars; 1 year as head coach with Xtreme All Stars Juniors; and 5 years as head coach with the Pop Warner rec group. She has early childhood education and was Director of Pasco county Kids Korner pre-school program 1996-2006; Director & founder of Pasco county Lil'Kats cheer program 2004-2007; coached South Pasco Pop Warner team to 5 straight State qualified championships; directed & coached FL Rebel All Stars to 1st place regional, state & national championships. She is NCA, UCA & CTC certified.
ROSS ENGEL
Coach Ross Engel assists Amy Hill in the cheer division and tumble training. He brings years of experience beginning in 1997 when he cheered high school and at varsity level with the University of Illinois. In 1994 he was high school varsity and elite gymnast which carried to the University of Illinois for varsity gymnast ranking 25th in the United States. His gymnastics career began in 1994 and throughout high school he was captain of the varsity squad competing on an elite level. He started coaching elite gymnasts in 1997 and has coached up to level 7. In college Ross competed for the University of Illinois and was ranked 25th in the Nation at the 1999 Nationals. He has worked with cheerleaders of all ages and experience. Ross is available for private tumble lessons.
KARA BABIJ
Coach Kara instructs tumble classes for Xcel-Rebels on Monday evenings. She is a native of Land O'Lakes. She started dance and tumbling at an early age and was a part of many competition teams throughout the years. She has earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a specialization in Exercise Science along with a minor in dance from the University of South Florida. Kara performed in Super Bowl XXV and the 1999 Outback Bowl. She was a part of the Land O'lakes High School cheerleading program and also an NCA All-American cheerleader in 2000-2001.
ELISSA SHAFFER
Coach Elissa (Lisa)has joined Xcel~Rebels and enjoys teaching our "babies" the art of tumble. Her class has our 5-6-7 year olds tumbling & dancing & enjoying themselves while picking up basic tumble skills. Coach Lisa has been involved as the recreation leader in Atlanta, GA with the Fulton County Parks. She has experience in gymnastics, dance and cheerleading.
AUBRIE HILL
Coach Aubrie is a Land O'Lakes high school graduate & is currently attending PHCC while she decides her future walk in life. She has many years of personal cheerleading experience in the PPAL Gators rec organization as well as on the All Star performance mat with the Xcel Gators and Xcel-Rebels All Star senior divisions. She takes time from coaching all star teams to enjoy the performance mat with the Parent/Coach team exhibition at the Tournament of Champions. Aubrie shares her experience with all Xcel-Rebel teams during the competitive cheer season and assists with summer camps & other activities between seasons.
DANICA GRAY
Coach Danica is a Land O'Lakes graduate & is currently attending USF with a major in communication sciences and disorders and sign language interpreting. Danica has years of personal cheerleading experience having a start in younger years with the PPAL Gators rec organization, Pineview Middle School, Land O'Lakes High School cheer squads and is a past cheerleader with Xcel Gators Senior All Stars. Danica carried the heavy responsibility of Captain for her cheer teams through the years. Future plans are to be a sign language interpreter and speech pathologist . . . her present plans, in addition to hours of study, is to share her cheerleading experience through coaching with the Xcel-Rebels All Star teams.
KALI HILL
Coach Kali is a Varsity cheerleader with the Land O'Lakes High School & is proud to boast 1st place wins with high school competitions in the state of Florida. Kali has many years of personal cheerleading beginning with the PPAL Gators rec organization, Xcel Gators All Stars and Xcel-Rebels All Stars. Kali shares her experience with the Xcel-Rebels teams, primarily assisting with the Junior squad. She also assists with Xcel-Rebel summer camps.
