Sluggers continue to play hard
The Sluggers traveled to Winston Park to take on the Blue team. It was the first night game for the Sluggers this season and it turned out to be a cold one. However, pitching was hot all night. Both team's pitching was on spot for most of the night. And after 3 innings of play the Sluggers found themselves down 2-1. In the 4th inning the Sluggers posted a run but they also gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the 4th, the Sluggers were still down 3-2. Pitching came up big for the Sluggers when they shut down the team from Winston in both the 5th and 6th innings. The Sluggers posted 2 runs in the 5th and the 6th inning creating a game of catch-up for Winston. But in the end the Sluggers win 6-3
Sluggers battle, walk away with the win
The Sluggers hosted the red team from Winston Park Saturday afternoon. The Sluggers jumped on the team from Winston early and lead 4-0 after 3 innings of play. However, the team from Winston dug deep and rallied in the 4th posting 6 runs and taking the lead 6-4. In the 5th inning both team's defense shut down their opponent. The top of the 6th the Slugger's defense again was able to prevent the Winston team from scoring. In the bottom of the 6th with the Sluggers trailing by two runs, the boys came up strong and posted two runs to tie the game forcing a 7th and final inning. The Winston team again came up empty in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th the Sluggers demostrated patience at the plate, then the Sluggers came up with a big time clutch hit for a double to win the game. Sluggers win a close one.
Sluggers take one on the chin
The Sluggers take one on the chin and lose to the Winston (Gold) team Saturday afternoon 10-3. The Sluggers struggled with their bats posting only 3 hits on the day. The Winston team put the bat on the ball and jumped on the Sluggers early. The Sluggers left four batters on base and were picked off with 6 base runners caught stealing. With 10 potential runs lost, and competing against a sound baseball team, the Sluggers up hill battle ended with a 'L" in the column. Buck up Sluggers, learn from your mistakes and go get them next time.

The boys defense and great pitching allowed only 4 appearances at the plate in the bottom of the 1st. 2nd inning saw the Sluggers rack up 7 more runs.
