NEVADA STATE
CHAMPIONSHIPS -- NOV. 15-16 AND NOV. 22-23
NOVEMBER 4 2008 (LAS
VEGAS, NV) -- 16 Teams from Southern Nevada and 2 teams from
Northern Nevada will compete in the 2008 Nevada State Cup Soccer
Championship this year. The competition will be spread over two weekends
(Nov. 15-16 and Nov. 22-23) to determine the state champion of Nevada.
The preliminary games involving teams from Southern Nevada will be
played at Kellogg/Zaher Soccer Complex, on Saturday, Nov. 15th (two
games), and Sunday, Nov. 16th (one game). The game times on Saturday
will be either: 5:30pm; 6:30PM; 8:15PM; or 9:15PM. Game times on Sunday
will be either: 11:00AM or 1:30PM.
The sixteen (16) teams from the Southern Region will
be divided into four (4) groups of four (4) teams playing in round robin
system of competition. Every team will play a minimum of three games
within their respective groups. There will not be more than one team
from the same league in any one group. The four seeded teams in no
particular order are: Latin United, Cosmos SC, Caesars Palace FC; and
Tyneside United SC. Rosters of 22 eligible players, and registration
fees must be paid in full by November 1, 2008. No Exceptions!
FIFA's dress code will be fully enforced (matching
jersey's, shorts, and socks required). In case of a conflict with the
color, the home team must change jerseys.
The point system will be the standard: 3 points for a
win; 1 point for a draw; 0 points for a loss. Games will be two
35-minute halves. There will be two 15 minute periods of extra time,
only in the championship game.
The four winners of each group, plus the two (2) best
second place teams will qualify from the Southern Region, for a total of
6 teams, in conjunction with the two representative teams from Northern
Nevada, will advance to the final round to be played, once again in two
groups of four teams each; under round robin system. Two games on
Saturday, Nov. 22nd (Game Times: 5:00pm or 7:00pm). Two games on Sunday,
Nov. 23rd (Game Times: 9:00am or 11:30am).
Winner of each group will play in the championship
game. Second place of each group will play for the third place. In case
of a tie in points, the tie breaker will be as follows: 1) Goal
differential, 2) Most Goals Scored; 3) Penalty Shots.
The championship team will receive a twenty-five (25)
members set of warm-up suits of their favorite color with the
inscription on the back of the jacket "2008 Nevada State Soccer
Champions".
The registration fee is $150.00 per team. The prize
money is as follows: 1st Place = $1,300.00; 2nd Place = $900.00; and 3rd
Place = $500.00.
