Things did not go well for VMS tonight as Cook Middle School pounded their way to a 22-1 victory in a game called due to the mercy rule after three innings. With a whole lot of firepower and some generous help from VMS, Cook jumped out to first inning 12-0 lead and never looked back.

Cats Fall to Tift 13-3; 14-1 March 21, 2008
VMS couldn't seem to get anything going and Tift County couldn't seem to do anything wrong as VMS dropped a 13-3 decision on Friday night. Tift County's aggressiveness at the plate was aided by numerous errors by the Cats. At the plate, the Cats did little to help their cause as they were able to muster only 6 hits.
In game two, the story was much the same. The strong hitting Tift. County B team jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 14-1 victory over the error-plagued Cats.
Cats Lose to Lowndes 12-2 March 17, 2008
Lowndes Middle used strong pitching and a couple of homeruns to beat VMS 12-2 on Monday. In the first inning, Brandon Corbitt hit a grand slam to put Lowndes up 4-0. Though he later added a solo shot, it was all LMS needed as they rode the arm of Seth Evans to a convincing win over our Cats. The Cats just weren't able to put much together offensively or defensively today.
Cats Lose Close One to Berrien 4-3
The Cats played tough and fought all the way to the end, but Berrien Middle was able to end a late scoring threat to preserve a 4-3 victory. The Cats continued to improve defensively, and they received another fine pitching performance from Blake Robinson who pitched a complete game.
In the B game, errors plagued VMS as Berrien defeated VMS 9-2.
CATS SCRATCH COFFEE FOR FIRST WIN 11-7!! March 10, 2008
Cats' Hard Work Pays Off in 11-7 Victory!
Everyone knew it was just a matter of time, and today was the day. The Cats got an outstanding pitching effort from Austin Gibbs and Trey Haygood as they defeated the Coffee County Middle School 11-7. Not only was the pitching sharp, but the defense was much improved over the previous games. Strong pitching, good defense, and timely hitting was the game winning recipe today!
In game two, the Cats were trailing Coffee after 2 1/2 innings of play when the game was called due to time.
Great job, Cats!!
Cats Stung By Hornets in Extra Innings 10-9 March 3, 2008
In what was a classic pitcher's duel for four innings, both Cook County and the Cats put on an offensive explosion in the final four. Trailing 1-0 heading into the fifth inning, the Cats scored five runs to take a 5-1 lead. It was short lived, however; as Cook plated 5 in the bottom half of the inning to re-gain a 6-5 advantage. The Cats scored once in the top of the sixth to even the score at 6, and held Cook scoreless in the bottom half of the inning. The Cats scored three runs in the top of the seventh, thanks in large part to a Randy Cook homer to center field, and they led 9-6. In the bottom of the seventh, Cook County showed that it wasn't ready to give in as they were able to match the scoring with three of their own to send the game into extra innings tied 9-9. The Cats were held scoreless in the eighth inning, but were unable to keep Cook from plating the game winner in the bottom half of the inning. Final Score: Cook 10 VMS 9.

Cats Drop Opener to Tift Co. 14-7 February 25, 2008
In spite of an offensive attack that included 12 hits and 7 runs, the Cats were unable to hold off a determined Tift County Blue Devil team in their season opener. It was really a tale of two games as the Cats seemed to control the early innings while racing to a 7-2 lead. Tift Co. continued chipping away at the Cats' lead and put the game out of reach with a late inning grand slam. Final Score: Tift Co. 14 Cats 7.
Game 2 was suspended after 1 1/2 innings due to time. The Cats scored twice in the top of the first, but Tift Co. was able to push four across in the bottom half of the inning for a 4-2 lead. After VMS failed to score in the top of the second inning, the game was called.
