U-10 Tournament Rules
These rules are for the U-10 Intramural tournaments. U-12 and
up rules may be found
here. U-8 rules are here.
U-7 and below do not have playoffs.
The schedule for the tournament shall be created at the beginning
of the season from a random combining of teams. The won-loss
record of each team shall have no bearing on the playoffs.
Rules for the Tournament
- Unless otherwise indicated here, normal Warrington
Soccer Club rules apply.
- Each team will play a minimum of three games. o The game
will consist of 4 - 12 min quarters.
o 2 min break between quarters & 5 min break at halftime.
- There is no overtime for the round robin games in the tournament. See rule 9 for the Final game.
- Points are awarded as follows:
- Win - 4 points
- Win (Forfeit) - 3 points
- Tie - 2 points
- Loss - 0 points
- A
forfeit is declared if one team fails to have one player less than the
required number to play, 15 minutes after the scheduled game time (7
players). In the event of forfeit, the winning score is 1-0.
- Both coaches must provide scores to the coordinator or his/her designee.
- After
all teams have completed their scheduled games, the two teams scoring
the most points in each bracket will face the top 2 teams in the other
bracket. The winners of this game will face each other in a final
championship game. o Group play: If your tournament has designated
groups (A and B) then the team with the most points in Group A plays
the team with the 2nd most points in Group B for the semi-final. The
team with the most points in Group B will face the team with the 2nd
most points in Group A.
- Tie-breakers:
- Two-way ties:
- Head-to head
- Total Goal differential in all games played (maximum of 3 per game)
- Team allowing the least total goals in all games played
- Total number of shutouts in all games played
- Shootout (see below)
- Three-way ties (in each case, if the rule eliminates 1 team, then use 2-way):
- Total Goal differential in all games played (maximum or 3 per game)
- Team allowing the least total goals in all games played
- 3-way Shootout (see below)
- Final Championship & Semi Final Games:
- The game will consist of 4 - 12 min quarters.
- 2 min break between quarters & 5 min break at halftime.
- If
tied at the end of regulation, 2 x 5-minute Golden Goal overtimes are
played. There will be a 2-minute break between the end of regulation
and the first overtime. Initial ball possession will be decided by a
coin toss for the first overtime. The other team will receive initial
possession during the second overtime. The team to score the first goal
in either overtime wins the game.
- If tied at the end of two overtimes, there will be a "Shootout":
- • If there is a question regarding a ruling not listed here, FIFA Laws of the Game apply.
- • The referees and coaches shall mutually agree upon the goal to be used in the shootout.
- • Each team shall line up their players, in single file, behind the midfield line.
- • A coin toss decides which team shoots first.
- • Kicks from the Penalty Mark are taken alternately by each team.
- •
Each team shall take a minimum of 5 kicks. The team with the most goals
after each team takes five kicks is the winner. The shootout may be
stopped early if one team scores more goals than the other team could
score with their remaining kicks.
- • If the teams are
still tied after 5 kicks, the teams continue to kick until one team
scores a goal more than the other team from the same number of
kicks.
- • The goalie of the team kicking shall remain on the field, outside the penalty box.
- •
Each player shall kick once before any player kicks twice (including
the goalie). All players on the team participate in the shootout.
- • The goalie may be changed at any time during the shootout.
The tournament should be a fun experience for everyone involved.
One Cup Trophy will be awarded to the first place team. Thank you for
your support and cooperation.
Winning Goal Differential: The
third tiebreaker is the sum of the difference in the score of each
winning game, with a maximum value of 3 per game. If a team's scores in
the round-robin are 5-0 (W), 1-3 (L), and 3-1 (W), the goal
differential is 5: 3 for the first game, none for the loss, and 2 for
the third game. Back
