Fort Lauderdale 10u Lightning Finish 2nd in Phipps Park Tournament

The Fort Lauderdale Lightning 10-U Travel Team took second place in the Phipps Park Annual Spring Tournament in West Palm Beach! This was the Lightning’s first tournament.
In an upset, the Lightning beat the No. 1 seeded MAGIC team 3-2 in a thrilling, come-from-behind win in the semi-final game. Coach Adam Phillips attributed the victory to strong pitching and superb defense. The team turned two double plays, threw out two runners trying to steal, and made a number of big plays in the outfield.
The team hit an impressive .418 over its five games, lead by Carter White, Conner Fee and Noah Phillips. Muhammed Eid and Matthew Sweetapple pitched brilliantly in each of the games. Lucas Bassett-Audain and Chris Chiavaroli split the catching duties and were terrific. Karl Hirsch and Blake Giusti were outstanding at first base. And Andrew English and Jackson Mills anchored the outfield. Karl Hirsch, Alix Audain and Lewis Sweetapple manned the coaching boxes and the dugout as Assistant Coaches.
