Thanks For A Great Season!
March 8, 2009
Thanks to all the kids, coaches and parents for a great season! A special thanks to Tanya for doing a great job managing all year long.
The kids all improved tremendously this year and it shows. Thanks to Terry, Mark and Kevin for an awesome job coaching. The season was a success, the boys improved individually and as a team, and everyone had fun.
Most importantly, thanks to the kids for the effort they put into every practice and every game. It's been really exciting to watch you boys play every weekend.
See you next year!
Monarchs Dominate Third Period, Beat Nashua 5-3
February 21, 2009
After two periods the boys were tied 3-3 with Nashua, and they came out strong in the third to score two more and win 5-3. Ryan had a great game, with four goals and no penalties. His first goal was a sweet breakaway where he deked and beat the goalie on the forehand side. Caleb had the game winning goal on a deceptive wrist shot from the left circle. Jack had two assists, and Matt added an assist. One of the better games in the season - the boys are tough when they put out an effort like today's.
Monarchs Win at Stowe Winter Carnival
January 25, 2009
The boys braved the cold to go undefeated at Stowe and bring home the trophy. Ryan scored the winning goal 53 seconds into overtime of the title game vs Newport. A good time was had by all. Excellent work boys!
Dover Down!
January 17, 2009
The best game of the year. Ryan won the opening face off and dished to Caleb who put a neat wrister into the back of the net for a 1-0 Monarchs lead seven seconds into the game. Ryan scored another one two minutes later, and after getting a quick 2-0 lead over Dover the boys really got after it. Ryan scored in the second, assisted by Jack and Caleb scored in the third, assisted by Ryan. Quinn played great defense. A great team win.
Monarchs Comeback To Tie Cyclones
January 4, 2009
After playing hard and bringing it to the Cyclones through 30 minutes the boys found themselves down 2-0. They had plenty of opportunities but had not been able to put the puck in the net.
There was no quit in the boys today, though, and Ryan put them back in the game with 6 minutes left with a tough-angle shot that went in off the goalie's skate. The boys kept the pressure on and with little over a minute left Ryan won a key battle in the corner and set up Shane in front of the net. Shane slammed the puck home and the game was tied. Final score: 2-2. Fantastic game.
Monarchs Beat Nashua, 4-2
January 3, 2009
The boys played strong and outlasted a chippy Nashua team. Goals by Matt from Ryan, Ryan from Benny, Caleb from Mike, and Caleb unassisted. Great game and fun to watch!
Monarchs Play Great at Malden
December 14, 2008
The boys played great hockey today. Caleb put them ahead early after taking Jack's rebound and stuffing it in the back of the net. Ian played excellent all day making save after save. Great game despite the 3-1 loss.
Monarchs Escape Avs and Win Turkey Shoot-Out
November 30, 2008
The Avs scored first in this one and were in the game throughout. Ryan led the boys with a hat trick in an MVP performance to win the tournament for the Monarchs. Well done boys! See the Game Results for the details on each game on the way to the trophy match.
Cavaliers Bow To Monarchs
November 23, 2008
The boys put it all together today and beat Hollis 6-1 in a stand-out game. Everyone played well today, with great passing and position play. Quinn played great on D and Ian made some great saves. Ryan led all scorers with a hat trick and an assist, Shane had two goals, Caleb had an incredible goal off a face-off and two assists, and Benny had an assist. Good hockey is fun to watch!
Weekend Split
November 9, 2008
The boys came out and played one of the best games of the year against the Cyclones on Saturday and then lost to the Panthers on Sunday. Ryan led in all categories over the weekend with two goals and three assists, Mike had two goals, and Shane, Matt and Caleb scored one each. Overall the boys are playing great hockey and getting better every week.
Monarchs Come Out To Play Against Warriors
November 2, 2008
The boys played great in this one and were switching up lines by the end of the second period. Ryan and Caleb combined for a string of goals early. Caiden had a nice one assisted by Shane.
On Saturday, the boys played strong against Seacoast but let it get away in the third. Despite the loss, they are closing the gap and definitely showing game-over-game improvement.
Monarchs Finish Strong in Black Cat Classic
October 26, 2008
After falling to Dover and Providence the boys had a big game against Southern Connecticut to finish the Black Cat Classic. Ryan led all scorers with four goals and an assist, Matt had two goals and an assist, Benny had two goals, Mike had a goal and two assists, Shane and Caiden each had a goal and an assist, Caleb had a goal and Kevin had an assist. Ian had a shutout on Sunday. See the game reports for a summary of each game. Good tournament, fun weekend, and a big thanks to the Labreques for a great party on Saturday.
Monarchs Best Warriors
October 19, 2008
Great effort, smart play, heads-up passing and good teamwork led the boys a 6-3 win in Haverhill. After falling behind 1-0 in the first Ryan tied the score at 1-1 and Benny put one in with one second left on the clock. The Monarchs would not trail again in the game. Ryan scored three more and Matt scored the game winner in the second and that would be all the Monarchs would need. Assists by Caiden, Matt, Shane(2), Jack and Caleb. An outstanding performance by all. Well done boys!
Gamble Answers The Call
October 4, 2008
The Monarchs gutted out a 1-0 victory over Nashua on a stalwart all-around team effort. Sharpshooter Ryan was out and defenseman Caiden was asked to step up and play forward. Caiden delivered, scoring on a breakaway in the second. He deked right and ripped the puck into the back of the net with a backhander. Shane assisted. Ian stood tough in net and made some great saves on the way to the shutout win. Great game boys!
