      NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE NEWS & VIEWS
    Hall of Fame offensive lineman Lou Creekmur, who starred on the Detroit Lions three NFL championship teams of the 1950s died Sunday. He waas 82. Creekmour played for the Lions from 1950 to 1959, mostly at left tackle. He made eight straight Pro Bowl teams, was picked to the All NFL team six times and was choosen for the Lions' 75th Anniversay Team in 2008. Creekmour was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996.
    NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Seattle Seahawks coach Jim Mora climbed Mt.Rainier in Washington as part of a fund-raiser for the United Way.
    Giants linebacker Michael Boley has been suspended for the first game of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy-he was arrested in May of 2008 and charged with battery on his wife after she accused him of becoming "too physical" after an arguement

    U.S.A TEAM BEATS CANADA IN JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
    Bryce Petty threw three touchdown passes without throwing an incompletion, and the United States won the gold medal at the inaugural Junior World Championship with a 41-3 victory against Canada in Canton, Ohio. Virginia Tech running back David Wilson rushed for 87-yards and a touchdown to help the U.S. team win the first world tournament of American football for players age 19 and under. Japan won teh bronze medal, Mexico finished fourth, Germany was fifth, Sweden was sixth, France was seventh and New Zealand was eighth. The next Junior World Championship is scheduled for 2012, and will be played every two years thereafter.

    USA EAGLES DEFEAT FRENCH TEAM JULY 4TH
    The Minor League Football News sponsored USA Eagles traveled to France over the 4th of July weekend, and came home a 35-12 win over Dauphins de Nice, a club team. Eagle scores came on three runs by Phoenix Outlaws running back Wayne McGivins, and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Les Countemanche to Micah Brown.
    Next up for the Eagles is a date with Team Canada, August 22nd, in Washington D.C. Players and coaches are needed for the Eagles. To learn more go to www.minorleaguefootballnews.com.

    PRO INDOOR NEWS-SOUTHERN INDOOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE
    College Station, Tex (July 5th)-Sean Samuel threw two touchdown passes and ran for another while Bo Bartik also threw two touchdown passes as teh Acadiaana Mudbugs defeated the Texas Hurricanes 44-30, spoiling the Hurricane's debut in their new College Station home. Anthony Parks caught two touchdown passes-one each from Samuel and Bartik as the Mudbugs (6-4) took a 14-0 halftime lead. Kendrick Cheneau threw three touchdown passes for the Hurricanes, now 1-7.     MID STATES FOOTBALL LEAGUE KICKS OFF 10TH SEASON JULY 11TH
    The Mid States Football League kicks off its tenth season on July 11th, with 15 teams. The regular season ends on August 29th. Post season starts September 12th, and the Championship is September 26th. The league was organized in February 1999 with five teams. The league commissioner is Howard Huntington, and he can be reached at coachringo@sbcglobal.net. Here is the lineup of teams for 2009: SOUTHERN ILLINOIS DIVISION: Joliet Buccaneers, Kanakee Plowmen, Lincolnway Patriots, and Mid States Steel. HOSSIER DIVISION: Idiana Titans, Indianpolis Stampede, and Lake County Steelers. CHICAGOLAND DIVISION: Chicago Mustangs, Chicago Thunder, and Leyden Lions. BADGER DIVISION: Kilborn City Hawks, Northern Illinois Cowboys, McHenry County Pirates, and Racine Threat. The Chicago Thunder have won the league championship the past three years. They won the AA National Championship in 2006 & 2008, in Homestead, Florida as part of the Super Extravanza Weekend of Championship and Bowl Games.     COLONIAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE KICKS OFF 5TH SEASON ON JULY 11TH
    The Colonial Football League was organized in 2004 with six teams. It kicks off its 2009 season on July 11th, with 17 teams. The defending champions are the Concohoken Steelers. Here is the lineup of teams: Burlington County Blackhawks, Conchohokin Steelers, Electric City Chargers, Flemington Generals, Lehigh Valley Steelers, Lebanon Valley Cardinals, Pottstown Panthers, Schulyhill County Coal Crackers, South Philly Spartans, York County Silver Bulleets, Chesapeke Bayhawks, Carolina Stallions, Montgomery County Rams, Maryland Colts, Southern Virginia Trojans, Upper Marlboro Nakotas, and Virginia Hornets.     MID-CONTINENTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE KICKS OFF 17TH SEASON JULY 25TH
    The oldest minor league in the Midwest States is the Mid-Continental Football League, which kicks off its 17th season of play on July 25th with the following teams: Flint Fury, Ohio (Columbus)Swarm, Southern Michigan Timberwolves, Wisconsin Wolfpack, Detroit Seminoles, Cleveland Cobras, Indiana Mustangs, Kings Comets (Cincinnati), Kalamazoo Stampede, Louisville Bulls, and Columbus Fire. The Louisville Bulls are a charter member of the league. Last year the Detroit Seminoles defeated the Bulls in the Championship. The regular season ends on September 19th.     AMERICAN FOOTBALL NEWS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
    Miami, Florida-The American Football News is now under the ownership of Mercedes and Jesse Wiggins, residents of Miami, Florida. The Wiggins have been active in minor league football for years, and along with their daughter, are members of the Minor League Football Hall of Fame. The Wiggins also own the Knights of Miami and Florida Kings franchises in the Southeast Football League. Jesse Wiggins was the founder of the Southeast Football League, and remains active with the league. The family promotes and runs the annual Sunshine Bowl Super Extravaganza weekend of Bowl Games and National Championships each year, the second weekend in January. In addition to the AAA & AA Division National Championship Games, the weekend includes the annual North vs South Championship Bowl, the Hurricane Bowl, Martin Luther King Bowl, and the International All-Strs vs Southeast All-Stars game. It is the oldest National Championship & Bowl game series in the sport. It will take place the weekend of January 15, 16 & 17, 2010 at Harris Field in Homestead, Florida. Some of the greatest teams in the nation have competed in the Championships such as the Detroit Seminoles, Central Florida Thorougbreds, Central Minnesota Thunderbirds, Carolina Eagles, Prince William Monarchs, Knights of Miami, Chicago Thunder, Mid-Ohio Jets, New England Knights, and Miami Bulls to name a few.     2010 SUNSHINE BOWL & SUPER EXTRAVAGANZA WEEKEND NEWS

    INTERNATIONAL ALL-STARS TO PLAY SOUTHEAST ALL-STARS IN JANUARY 2010
    The annual Sunshine Bowl/Super Extravaganza Championship weekend is set for January 16, 17 & 18, 2010 in Homestead, Florida. This is the oldest and largest post season championship series in the nation that includes the AA, AAA National Championships, various bowl games such as the Hurr North vs South Championship on Friday night, and a all-star game at noon on Saturday along with the Hurricane Bowl, and AAA National Championship the same day. On Sunday the AA National Championship is crowned along with the Martin Luther King Bowl. This year a team of all stars made up of players from Canada, England and the USA will take on the host Southeast Football League All-Stars. Players who are interested in joining the International All-Stars can sign up by emailing: PIFL98@aol.com. Leave your names, position you play, team you last played for, and your complete mailing address. A newsletter and application will be mailed to you. The cost is $60.00. Players receive a all-star t-shirt and cap. They must provide white game pants (practice white's OK), and a white game jersey of their choice. Practices will be held twice a day on Thursday and Friday before the game. A team hotel has been set up near the stadium. All the details are covered in the newsletter which will be sent to you.
