Bulldogs Clinic helps raise over $500 for new ballfields in Hanson
A little bit of rain and wind would not deter the Bay State Bulldogs Coaches and Players from running their 2nd annual Hanson Youth Baseball clinic at Boteri Field in Hanson on Father's Day. Although the day was a bit raw and unfriendly, a slew of young major league hopefuls came out to attend this very popular event. The clinic saw over 45 kids attend the clinic sponsored by Hanson Little League as the Bay State Bulldog coaches and players each setup their stations around the two ballfields. The stations were as follows:
- Tee Station-Coach Giurleo, Evan McSherry
- Soft Toss Station-Coach Kwedor
- Infield Station-Coach McCarthy, Nick Degrenier
- Pitching Station-Coach Sawtelle, Ryan McCarthy, Jimbo Manning
- Rundown Station-Matt Giurleo & Brian Kwedor
- Throwing station-Pitch Counter Dave McSherry
- Outfield Station-Coach Manning
The instant the whistle blew, the Hanson kids all scattered to their working stations and the fun began!! The Hanson boys were hungry to learn and more importantly, they were hungry to play the greatest game on earth said a very sore "Coach McCarthy".
"This clinic was about learning the game of baseball and having a lot of fun doing it-many times baseball camps are run without any structure and/or goals, they often become overpriced daycare sessions-we run this clinic with a strong desire to teach the kids, help them develop their love for the game, and we never expect a penny in return-our players and coaches look forward to this event each year because it is our way of giving something back to the game that has given so much to all of us " said Coach Giurleo.
Thanks to all the Bulldog Coaches and Players who were able to come out to make a difference in the lives of some young boys and girls. The free clinic raised over $500 for Hanson Little League and will help the town eventually reach it's goal of a new ball field. You can rest assured, the Bulldog will be there for the ground-breaking!!!!
Ryan McCarthy, Nick DeGrenier, Jimbo Manning, Evan McSherry, Matt Giurleo, Brian Kwedor, each will be receiving the BlockBuster Gift Cards as a thank you for making a difference in the world of some young aspiring Major Leaguers!! Way to go gentleman....
