Blue Thunder Rocks Ames, IA

Blue Thunder arrived in Ames, IA the weekend of February 28th & March 1st for the Toyota Indoor Championships. After playing the 3 teams in their bracket, West Des Moines Royal, CRSA Predators & Ankeny White, they were seeded #1 in their bracket for semifinal play.
After defeating West Des Moines White in a shootout in the semifinals, they were matched up with CRSA COPA in the final game of the day. At the end of regulation the score was tied 2-2 and other shootout was underway. Blue Thunder shoots first and flies the ball high over the goal. COPA’s first shot finds the corner. Blue Thunder’s second shot also finds the corner away from the goalie. COPA’s second shot goes straight to our goalie’s hands and it is tied up once again. Blue Thunder’s third and final shot is right on target, again in the corner. The pressure is on COPA to make the shot cause a tie or be defeated. The shot was on target, but the Blue Thunder goalie punches it over the goal to give Blue Thunder the Championship! With remarkable competition in an awesome facility, Blue Thunder returns home with many fond memories and an appetite for more tough competition in the tournaments ahead.
Relay for Life

I invite both players and parents to sign up on the Blue Thunder team for Relay for Life. This event starts at 6pm Friday, July 24th and continues until Saturday morning. This year the event will be held at the Canaries stadium. Relay for Life Registration

Recruiting is ongoing. Tryouts are held in July each year, but we are still accepting additional team players. If you have a high interest in the game of soccer, want to learn in a fun environment and are willing to commit to training, practices and tournaments, we want you!
